Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
Berlitz School of Languages in Paris and the Alliance Française in Hong Kong.

My current students include business people as well as families owning holiday houses in Europe or parents wanting to improve their language skills to keep up with their children!
The bulk of my teaching is to GCSE and A'level aged young people for their exams. My aim is to give them confidence and to unravel the language to help them to achieve and often to surpass their potential. Please see their testimonials.
All my current students will be happy to speak directly to any prospective students. Students' parents will be happy to do the same.

I am a French native speaker and have over 20 years experience of successfully teaching French and Spanish to adults as well as for school exams from 11+ to university entrance level.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
French and Spanish
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a degree from a French University (Paris V) and have the DELE Superior Spanish exam which proves my level of Spanish is fluent.
- How much do you charge?
Charges for one-to-one tuition : French : £45/hour Spanish : £40/hour or view my full profile for a more detailed price list.
Prices for groups of 2 people and over is on a sliding scale according to the number of people in the group.
Prices include travel to classes given within my local area (Clapham, Balham, Tooting) but I make a small charge according to travel time and distance if I have to travel further.
- Where do you teach?
Although I do teach from my home in SW17, I also travel to work in other areas of South London or to Central, North and West London.
- When are you available?
Let me know your requirements and I will do my best to fit you into my schedule. I am happy to work evenings, week-ends and school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I have successfully prepared candidates for many private school Common Entrance exams, for GCSE, A/S and A'levels as well as for Oxford and Cambridge interviews and entrance exams. I have taught the DELF curriculum to adults and, in the past, tutored many business people to pass the now defunct French Chamber of Commerce exams. References are available.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to teach via Skype and work electronically.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
With my wide experience, I can easily adapt and tailor-make classes to suit the adult learner's particular requirements. If the learner is advanced, we can choose topics for discussion and development within their own areas of interest.
The children and young people whom I tutor after school enjoy their lessons and improve rapidly. By stripping back to basics, I "clear the fog" that has built up in their minds and help them overcome the barriers to language learning they may have encountered previously.
I myself enjoy politics, the arts, sport and travel, have a sense of humour and infinite patience but know when to be firm when necessary.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Amelia is truly trilingual and has tutored all three of my daughters - two in GCSE Spanish and one in GCSE French.
She knows and understands the exam boards' syllabuses thoroughly and her help has been greatly appreciated. The girls like and respect her and I have recommended her to friends on several occasions. She really makes a difference to the grade achieved! When Molly went into Year 8 she went up to a set where students had already been studying Spanish for a year so she needed to catch up. Amelia has done a wonderful job and Molly is now performing well above average in her class for Spanish. Since French is Amelia's mother tongue it was also great to have the flexibility to switch to French tuition when needed, for example, for an upcoming test. We would not hesitate to recommend Amelia and will definitely call on her again.
I was taught Spanish by Amelia for a year, beginning with no knowledge of the language whatsoever. Amelia is an extremely patient and encouraging teacher, explaining the subject clearly and putting
everything into a practical context. Her great enthusiasm for her
subject would be motivating for any student, no matter what their
level of ability.Amelia inspires the most reluctant pupil and explains grammar in the simplest terms. She tutored my four children (from CE through to Oxford university entrance in French/Spanish) which boosted their confidence and their understanding of the subjects. She engages with young and old, at whatever level, and her lessons are well prepared and never boring. I've known Amelia for many years and still enjoy my French conversation classes - essential for all those whose French or Spanish is a little rusty.
Amelia has taught me both French and Spanish in small groups and tutored my three children. She is a wonderful, enthusiastic teacher who makes each class not only fun but also really rewarding. Her preparation for classes is scrupulous and certainly my children earned top grades at GCSE which they could not have done without her input. Amelia is a great friend of mine, but I would have no hesitation in recommending her as a professional to anyone who wants to improve their languages.
I had Amelia as a tutor for extra oral work in both Spanish and French for my A/S level exams in May 2013 and my A'levels in May 2014. As well as helping me gain a better understanding of my prepared literary texts, I built on my vocabulary and improved fluency and exam technique. I was delighted to achieve an A grade in both languages and would not have done so without her help.
In January 2013 Amelia started teaching us the basics of Spanish with a view to travel around South America for a year. Her patience has been amazing and whilst by no means fluent, I know that Amelia has imparted to us a great foundation from which to build upon. It is not an easy task to teach 2 middle age professionals working full time who don't do their homework. I would have no hesitation in recommending Amelia to all age groups - if she can she teach us, then she can teach anyone!
Having opted for GCSE Spanish my son found the teaching boring and rapidly lost interest. Amelia did a great job in turning this around. Her enthusiasm and patience were key to re-igniting his curiosity in the language and I would highly recommend Amelia for even the most reluctant student.
Amelia helped my son gain an excellent grade in his French GCSE for which we are hugely grateful. Having struggled with French, he gained huge confidence in both his writing and speaking over the year that they worked together and she gave him encouragement and praise throughout - it was definitely worth every penny!
Amelia is warm and put me at ease but she also challenged me and got the best out of me.
Thanks to her I got the top grades I needed in both Spanish and French A'level to study languages at Bristol University.View more recommendations
