About Ashley
- What kind of experience do you have?
I perform regularly in public, in many settings from chamber music to orchestral and solo, and I have so far performed in two BBC Proms.
I have been involved in workshops in primary schools, providing an "outreach" session for children who want to have a go at music for the first time. I also spent some time working in a specialist music shop, wherein a large part of the job was ensuring the customer found the best solution to ensure future progress.
I also have one student currently, who, with my support, recently attained Grade 5 trombone and Grade 8 tuba, both with distinction.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Having not been involved as a staff member in a educational institution, I do not have a DBS. However, if parents are concerned about this, I am perfectly comfortable for a parent or guardian to sit in and observe a lesson if they so wish.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I am a student of the Royal Academy of Music, and I take lessons from several principal players from orchestras in the UK and Overseas.

Hello, and welcome to my tutor page.
If you're a musician looking for teaching at a favourable rate, look no further. I'm conservatoire educated, so I'm getting tips from the best... and I can pass them straight on to you.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach all brass instruments excluding French Horn, which is quite different to most brass instruments. If you need a horn teacher I can easily put you in touch with one.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, and I'm currently working towards a degree, and will be taking a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music course in the coming years.
- How much do you charge?
My usual rate is £25 per hour-long session or £15 per half-hour session, which is a very favourable going rate at the moment.
- Where do you teach?
I am willing to teach anywhere within the Greater London area, and am very flexible with arrangements, I can either travel to pupils' homes or have pupils come to me.
- When are you available?
As a conservatoire student, my schedule is very volatile, so I will need to be flexible. On the flip side, I can allow plenty of flexibility for pupils as well. The best times to ask for are at the weekends as I am usually free to teach then. I will always ensure that a pupil gets a lesson when needed.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am most familiar with the Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM Graded exams structure, however, I am perfectly at ease preparing for any qualification a student requires. Having done two diplomas myself I am used to a wide range of marking criteria.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
If between lessons a student needs help with anything music related I will be happy to answer any burning questions through any medium they see fit.
