About Dorsa

I am an experienced dual language teacher, coach, and a life-long learner. I have experience as a teacher and a dean of instruction in a variety of dual language program models including one-way late-exit, 90-10 two-way dual language, and in ENL across public, private and charter schools. My passion for language acquisition and growth mindset has led her to work in Texas, Chile, Mexico, and most recently New York City. I am passionate about working with students around developing growth mindsets around their abilities in language learning, and math instruction. Those students who say "i'm not a math person" are the exact students I love to work with in challenging that mindset! l also love working in developing brave learners that allow for increased and more compelling student writing and conversation.

About the lesson

- It is important to me to understand the strengths and assets of your child. I can work with them to assess their level in both math and literacy and work with them to develop their skills based on their needs. I take an asset-based approach to all instruction, which means I understand and value the skills your child does have and use them as tools to further develop other areas. I can work with both English and Spanish instruction, as well as math. I ensure that all of my lessons are tailored to the interests of your child, so the learning feels applicable. I also work on developing a growth mindset, so that your child understands that mistakes are what truly makes our brain grow, rather than getting discouraged. I have worked in private, public, and charter schools, and am now getting a doctorate in bilingual curriculum and instruction. I work with schools across the DOE in developing their bilingual programs.
