About the lesson

Having struggled myself at school, and as a result going through the clearing process to get into university, I know first-hand what it can be like to lack belief and confidence in one's abilities academically. I have learned that very often the approach to teaching taken in schools is very much 'aimed at the masses', and in reality, many students don't learn best using this format. Re-framing what needs to be learned can really aid understanding, as well as providing a greater context to the work being studied, and my approach focuses on what really works for each individual, and also encouraging them to believe in themselves, and their ability.

I will always encourage feedback from my student, so that if my approach isn't working best for them, then I can re-think and optimise the way I teach. I believe communication and understanding are key, and I always draw upon my years of academic and teaching experience, to ensure that the student is making progress, gaining a greater grasp of the subject, and of course, happy with the tutoring experience.

About Lisa

I am currently a Teaching and Research Fellow at a UK university, with my teaching spanning a number of subjects across physics, and my research currently focussing on both nuclear theory and experiment.

Prior to this role, I amassed many years of teaching experience, having taught undergraduate and postgraduate students during the course of my PhD. In addition, I have four years' experience in private tutoring, and have worked with university, A Level, and GCSE-level students in this capacity, with a proven track record in successfully coaching my students through their exams, and in some cases, on to further academic qualifications.
