About Ivy
I have been passionate about French since my teenage years, which inspired me to earn a B.A. in French Studies and an M.A. in French Linguistics. Over 8 years, I have taught students ranging from beginners to advanced learners, helping them develop language fluency, comprehension, and cultural understanding. My teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, engagement, and personalized instruction, adapting lessons to each student’s learning style and goals. I focus on combining technical mastery of grammar and vocabulary with cultural immersion, encouraging students to practice conversation, reading, and writing in authentic contexts. I incorporate multimedia, literature, and interactive exercises to create engaging and practical lessons. Outside teaching, I explore French literature, media, and cultural events to enrich my lessons. Teaching French is deeply fulfilling because I witness students gain confidence, fluency, and a deeper appreciation for Francophone culture, equipping them with skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Each lesson is structured to be interactive, encouraging curiosity and steady progress.
Beginners focus on basic greetings, sentence formation, and pronunciation. Intermediate learners strengthen grammar, expand vocabulary, and develop conversational skills. Advanced students work on essay writing, literary analysis, professional communication, and high-level conversation for academic, travel, or professional purposes. Lessons include guided exercises, discussions, and feedback to reinforce understanding and confidence.
French instruction also cultivates critical thinking, cultural awareness, and independent language use. Students gain confidence expressing themselves, interpreting context, and appreciating Francophone culture.
