About Janet

I have over 20 years experience as a classroom teacher and tutor, having taught at UC Berkeley and University of San Francisco, as well as at a private college preparatory high school. I have worked with students ranging from freshmen in high school to PhDs, and my students appreciate my ability to meet them wherever they are, and move them forward quickly. I'm patient and easygoing, but honest in my assessments and advice.

I have a master's degree in Teaching Composition and Teaching English as a Second Language, and a bachelor's degree in history. I specialize in teaching writing to high school and college students, and academic writing, speaking and pronunciation to non-native speakers of English. I have extensive experience with academic writing for graduate and postgraduate students, and in instructional materials development. I'm happy to meet in person or online. Once you and I have worked together to determine your goals and assess your needs, I'll develop an individualized learning plan specifically for you.
