About Julian

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been a full-time teacher of Latin and Classical Civilisation since 1990. I am presently employed in a leading Belfast Grammar School. I have been an Examiner (marker) for AQA Classical Civilisation since 2004 and OCR Latin since 2011.

I take a professional and sympathetic approach to those with difficulties and to those wishing to maximise potential (e.g. Oxbridge entrance candidates). Personal contact fully backed up with all materials available in electronic format.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Latin and Classical Civilisation from beginners to Oxbridge entrants

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Educated originally in Belfast, I pursued my further education in Britain: I took my Primary degree in Latin from the University of St Andrews (MA Hons); my teaching qualification (PGCE) from the University of Cambridge; and I returned home to take my PhD from QUB.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £35-00 per hour, travel and marking included. The same fee applies to online tuition via skype.

- Where do you teach?

I teach within a reasonable radius of greater Belfast, and online via skype - anywhere in the world!

- When are you available?

I am available in person on weekday afternoons, from 4:30-5:30pm, and any weekday evening, from 7-10pm.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach Latin to beginners, children or adults, and Classical Civilisation to GCSE and A Level students.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I prepare students for GCSE Latin and Civilisation (AQA/OCR), and for AS/A2 Latin and Classical Civilisation (OCR/AQA)
