About Lisa

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have over ten years of experience in private lessons, group lessons, and chamber/orchestral tuition.

I currently teach at primary schools in Peckham, Southwark, and Elephant and Castle, and my previous experience has been at the following institutions:

Tutorials at St. Thomas's Schools, London as a guest tutor (2012)
Private lessons, and tutorials at Marlborough College as a guest tutor (2012)
Violin and viola teacher at Sydney Church of England Grammar School (2009-2011)
Chamber music tutor at Sydney Church of England Grammar School (2011)
Viola tutor for New South Wales Public Schools Arts Unit (2011)

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a current DBS Certificate which I am happy to produce if required.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a professional violist, and work with a variety of orchestras such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Southbank Sinfonia. I also work in theatre, most recently at the National Theatre on an Alan Bennett play called "Hymn".

About the lesson

I believe music is something that can be enjoyed by everyone, and the best way to learn is in a positive, encouraging environment!

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach violin, viola, piano, and theory/musicianship.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and an Associate of Music from the Australian Music Examination Board.

- How much do you charge?

£20 half an hour, or £35 for an hour.
Group lessons can also be arranged for up to 4 students of a similar level.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at the student's home. I live in Greenwich and can easily travel to Lewisham, Blackheath, Deptford, and the London Bridge area. I am happy to travel anywhere within zones 1-2.

- When are you available?

I am very flexible with lesson times; please contact me to discuss availability. Extra lessons leading up to exam periods and in school holidays can also be arranged, for extra keen students!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and levels; I have had experience teaching children as young as 4 as well as adults, and have started children off from the foundational levels through to preparing students for entrance exams.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I prepare students for their ABRSM exams, although exams are completely optional. I also encourage students to perform wherever possible at school assemblies, church, family functions etc., as music is a gift best shared with others!
