About Sophia

Hello! My name is Sofia Berestetska, and I’m a civil engineering student at Drexel University with a GPA of 3.8. I have over three years of experience in tennis coaching and over one year of tutoring. As a STEM tutor at Drexel and a tennis coach, I’ve worked with students of all ages, learning styles, and different backgrounds, helping them build confidence and achieve their goals. My approach is centered around patience, clarity, and adaptability. I take the time to understand each student’s unique challenges and explain concepts in a way that makes sense to them. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current courses/tasks but also to develop their critical thinking skills and independence as learners. About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach centers around patience, clarity, and adaptability. I believe that effective learning happens when students feel supported, engaged, and empowered to ask questions. Whether I'm helping a peer in civil engineering or coaching a young student in math or science, I aim to create an encouraging environment where they can confidently explore difficult concepts.

I begin by identifying the student’s current level of understanding and any specific challenges they face. From there, I break down complex topics into manageable steps. I encourage active problem-solving and guide students through the reasoning process, rather than simply giving them answers.

Having worked as both a STEM tutor at Drexel University and a tennis coach for over three years, I've developed strong communication skills and the ability to adjust my teaching style to suit different learning preferences. Whether it’s a visual learner who benefits from diagrams or someone who learns best by doing, I tailor my sessions to maximize their understanding and confidence.
