About the lesson
I'm a student of Modern Languages at Oxford University with several years of teaching experience. I have taught stage classes (ballet, tap, modern, musical theatre, contemporary dance) as well as English lessons to people of all ages both in large groups and individually. I firmly believe that the teaching techniques employed must be altered to suit each individual, but I prefer to focus on visual aids and repetition as these are the tools I have found most effective during my time as a teacher, especially in language learning. Since there is no clear chronology when it comes to language learning, I usually focus my lessons on what is going to be the most useful and interesting to the student; gradually increasing the topics in terms of difficulty. I begin the lesson by informing the student(s) of the learning objective, and then proceed to explain the topic; often with the aid of a text book or video. I then focus the remainder of the lesson on practice as I believe this to be the only way to ensure a sound understanding of language; both oral and written. I encourage all of my students to read as much as they can in the target language.
I am an engaging and encouraging tutor and I strive for my students' academic achievement.

For four years I taught dance lessons to children between the ages of 4 and 12; something which I hugely enjoyed and found rewarding as dancing is one of my hobbies and passions. I volunteered as a teacher in rural Brazil, teaching English as a foreign language to people of all ages using the Callan Method before moving to Sao Paulo and working as a private tutor teaching English for Business.
