About Phillipa

- What kind of experience do you have?

Over 10 years private teaching experience in all of the instruments listed above.

I was a vocal tutor for the internationally award winning 'Cantamus girls' choir' and Assistant Director of 'Cantamus Training Choir' before I moved to London.

I currently work as a piano and vocal teacher at an independent prep school and as the vocal teacher at a central London academy.

I worked for 'Nottinghamshire Arts Support Service' as a vocal tutor, choral conductor and supply piano and keyboard for over three years.
During my time with the Arts Support I worked for the Saturday '11th session' programme leading two choirs and a group theory session.
I was a workshop leader for the 'Wider Opportunities Scheme' teaching singing to KS1 and KS2 classes.

I worked at two top independent boarding schools as a voice teacher and have also taught both female and male choristers for Southwell ,Minster and Lincoln Minster.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a current DBS certificate.

- Where and with whom did you train?

Birmingham Conservatoire
The University of York.

I train with Louise Crane, an operatic mezzo who works regularly for Buxton opera and whilst at Birmingham I studied with Gordon Sandison who was a baritone soloist at Glyndebourne and Scottish opera. I had regular coaching from renowned coach Robin Bowman and language classes in French, Italian, German and Russian.

Prior to Birmingham I studied with Pamela Cook MBE.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

The Musicians Union

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Previous students have continued their musical training at universities across the UK and those who haven't taken music as a subject lead active lives in the extra curricular musical activities on offer. Others take part in local musical theatre groups and orchestras whilst some enjoy learning on their own. I have taken students through the performance requirements of GCSE and A level music.
