"Physics is about questioning, studying, probing nature. You probe, and, if you're lucky, you get strange clues." - Lene Hau
The journey of learning Science is actually a long term questioning and answering session where you go back and forth to discover new things.
In fact, the studying of Physics is not just for students who are taking the Science stream for their secondary level education in Malaysia. Even students are in the Art or Commerce stream has to take the General Science paper, which includes Physics topics too.
That being said, have you ever wondered why Physics is so essential and why do we need to learn it in school?
Why Should We Learn Physics in School?
If we keep examinations aside, here are three main reasons why Physics is so relevant in our everyday life.
a) It allows us to understand the universe
From gravity, ocean tides, to the planets and stars, everything revolves around the study of Physics. It is because of Physics that we are able to send astronauts to space and study the possibility of life in other planets.
b) It enables us to come out with modern technology and invention
Whether it is various types of transportation on-air, on-road or on water, you cannot run away from the knowledge of Physics.
And even as you are reading this through a mobile device, the creation of components inside your phone or laptop is delicately planned and executed through the application of Physics.
This brings us to the next point.
c) It opens doors to many career opportunities
We need individuals to bring the science of Physics alive. Without Issac Newton and Albert Einstein, we would not have known the concept of gravity and relativity.
It is because of Physics that we now have more engineers, data scientists, artificial intelligence scientists, astrophysicists and many more occupations.
You might even end up working in a Physics-related industry one day!
