The four papers in SPM Bahasa Melayu contribute different scores to your overall SPM result. Kertas 1 and Kertas 2, or the writing and reading paper, each take up 100 marks. That means it is likely you would improve in all these key areas with Malay tuition, regardless of the fact that you are currently taking SPM Bahasa Melayu.
However, do remember that the course structure and format for both these types of tuition are different. SPM Bahasa Melayu covers a total of 2 years' worth of subject content, which is derived from your Form 4 and Form 5 syllabi. IGCSE tuition, on the other hand, will cover 3 years' worth of studying Malay, not to mention that the syllabus itself is starkly different from that of SPM.
Moreover, the grading system of IGCSE itself is different from that of SPM Bahasa Melayu. As such, with IGCSE tuition, you may be learning to answer Malay questions in a different format that doesn’t align with the fixed format for SPM Bahasa Melayu.
In short, taking IGCSE tuition can be helpful if you'd like to become more competent in the general areas of reading, writing, and verbal skills in Malay. However, if you'd like to gear your tuition towards achieving a better SPM result in Bahasa Melayu, then taking SPM tuition is the way to go.
