How to calculate your final marks for your 1st semester STPM Malay Paper?
Bahagian A- You will answer 20 objective questions. [20m]
Bahagian B- You will answer structured, subjective questions based on a passage that tests you on critical and analytical reading [30m]
Bahagian C- You will choose 1 essay title out of 3 essay titles. [50m]
Total marks: 100m (33% weightage)
Determining the combined marks of your test and coursework assessment in your 2nd semester STPM Malay Paper
Bahagian A- Candidates need to answer 30 multiple-choice questions. [30m]
Bahagian B- Candidates have to answer structured and short questions [30m]
Total marks: 60m (20% weightage)
Semester 2 Kerja Kursus (910/4)
Esei berformat - Candidates need to submit 8 formatted essays as listed in the given task. [25m]
Total marks for Esei Berformat Coursework Assessment : 25m (8% weightage)
Learning your score for the 3rd semester in STPM Malay Paper
Bahagian A- Candidates need to answer 20 objective questions. [20m]
Bahagian B- Candidates need to answer structured and short questions. [45m]
Total marks for 910/3 Paper: 65m (22% weightage)
Semester 3 Kerja Kursus (910/5)
Penulisan ilmiah- Students choose to write an academic essay (2000- 2500 words) and present the findings of the writings based on one theme out of two themes that were taught throughout the 3 semesters.
Total marks for kerja khusus :50m (17% weightage)
Do take note that all your coursework assessment will be carried out during normal learning hours and is subject to your school's examination schedule.
The accurate calculation for your final STPM Malay grade
You may have noticed that all 5 STPM Malay Papers carry different weightage in terms of percentage. Eventually, that is how you arrive at your real grade for the subject.
By summing the total weightage, you will get 100%.
So don't forget to convert your marks into weightage for every semester. And do not worry if you are unsatisfied with your results, as you can retake the STPM subject during the next semester to improve your results. Let's say your 1st semester's grade is B and after retaking your grade is A, the higher grade (A) will be taken into account for the final grade that is listed in your academic transcript.
How will your STPM Malay coursework assessment be graded?
Apart from there are two parts of the coursework assessment in STPM Malay subject that you will undergo in your 2nd semester and 3rd semester respectively.
During your 2nd semester, your coursework assessment requires you to submit 8 Esei Tidak Berformat.

e) Minit Mesyuarat
g) Kertas Cadangan
h) Surat Kiriman Rasmi
It is COMPULSORY to master the correct format of the essays and hand over the 8 essays according to the test dates set by your school. If you have submitted less than 8 essays, your grade will immediately be listed as X by your subject teacher.
However, you should take note that the AVERAGE MARKS of only 7 essays (all essays excluding surat kiriman rasmi) will be calculated and graded.
Remember that your marks for your coursework assessment will be converted according to the 8% weightage and will be totalled with other weightage marks from your 1st semester to your 3rd semester.

For Penulisan Ilmiah in your 3rd semester, you will be graded separately for your writing essay (group marks) and group presentation (individual marks).
The table below shows the specific format and layout when you are organizing and writing. Students should include this as their table of content (senarai kandungan) as well as a checklist as they submit the essay.

For the group presentation, there is a separate marking criterion that your Malay subject teacher will look into during the assessment grading. Bear in mind that, everyone in the group may have different scores as it is individually graded. Nevertheless, great teamwork and ample practice beforehand will create a strong synergy during your presentation.
The five categories are as follows:
You will be evaluated on how you begin your presentation, whether your presentation content answers the question, even parts of distribution among your group members, how you conclude your presentation as well as your group's overall time allocation.
You will be graded on your ability to present your work without reading your presentation slides blindly, how you link your ideas, clarity in presentation and the effectiveness of the presentation.
You will be assessed based on the neatness of your attire, your mannerism, your confidence level, your ability to draw and retain the audience's attention as well your ability to answer questions spontaneously and accurately.
You will be judged based on how you use the correct grammatical rules, the variety of your vocabulary, accurate and clear pronunciation, the usage of the right intonation, suitable body language.

You will be appraised on how you prepare your presentation tool kits, the suitability of the tools, how competent you are at using the tools during the presentation, the right technique of using the display presentation and your element of creativity.
