Ever since its global launch in Germany in 2018, HYROX has gradually made its mark in Malaysia, with its inaugural race taking place in December 2026.

HYROX is rapidly turning Asia into one of its fastest-growing global regions. Cities like Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Seoul are now attracting tens of thousands of participants, while emerging markets like Malaysia and Indonesia are preparing for their first large-scale HYROX events. In Malaysia, HYROX’s popularity shows no sign of slowing, as multiple events are already scheduled for the 2026 Asia-Pacific calendar.

Backed by AirAsia as the official title partner, and with participants being eligible for special flight discounts to the race, the race is to attract local and international athletes looking to start their race year early. Be sure to closely follow HYROX Asia-Pacific announcements as registration details are expected to be released closer to the event.

HYROX Jakarta 2026

Bangkok’s multi-day HYROX event offers extended race opportunities across several divisions and age categories.5 As one of the larger Asia-Pacific stops, it typically features high participation levels and a broad range of competitive standards, from Open athletes to elite racers targeting qualification opportunities later in the season. Bangkok is also a great place to find HYROX-affiliated gyms, so it's hardly surprising that it hosts an event.

If you want to make the trip to HYROX Seoul, be sure to check out direct flight deals, as this race is in partnership with AirAsia. And with top-tier facilities like KINTEX, this race is going to bring massive, stadium-like energy that is highly motivating for local and international competitors!

Preparing for a HYROX Event

You may have decided to sign up for the next HYROX event, so what comes next? It's time to start getting yourself into shape (or into even better shape, for those aiming for a Top-100 finish). Be sure to diversify your training to include endurance running and functional strength training, as you'll need to develop strength and pace as you go through the race.

Here's an overview of the HYROX fitness racing stations as you run 1km between them:

1000m on the SkiErg
50m sled push
50m sled pull
80m burpee broad jumps
1000m rowing
200m farmer's carry
100m sandbag lunges
100 x wall balls

Who Should Consider a HYROX Race?

HYROX events are designed to suit a wide range of athletes, from first-time competitors to experienced fitness racers. Runners looking to incorporate strength-based challenges, gym athletes aiming to test their endurance, and teams interested in doubles or relay formats can all find an appropriate division. With clearly defined categories and standardised workouts, HYROX provides an accessible entry point while still offering a competitive environment for those pursuing faster times or championship qualification.

Training Tips

Here are some solid pointers for incorporating a variety of training workouts and effective exercises to excel at each HYROX station and throughout the race. Of course, every athlete and participant is different, so be sure to adjust for yourself. If you're not sure how to do that, we recommend working with a personal trainer or coach.

Tip 1

Balance Endurance Running and Functional Strength

HYROX requires constant transitions between running and workout stations. Training should combine endurance running with functional strength exercises such as sled work, carries, and lunges to build overall race readiness.

Tip 2

Train Using Real HYROX Station Movements

Include exercises that replicate official race stations like SkiErg, rowing, wall balls, and sandbag lunges. Practising these movements improves efficiency and confidence during competition.

Tip 3

Focus on Race Pacing and Energy Management

Successful HYROX racing depends on steady pacing rather than maximum intensity. Combining running intervals with station workouts helps athletes learn to manage fatigue and maintain performance throughout the race.

Tip 4

Combine Strength Development With Conditioning

Training should develop functional strength while maintaining endurance. Focus on lower-body power, core stability, and grip strength alongside conditioning workouts to support race performance.

Tip 5

Prioritise Recovery and Warm-Ups

Rest days, mobility work, and structured warm-ups help prevent injury and improve consistency. Proper hydration, stretching, and nutrition also support recovery between training sessions.

Tip 6

Training Action for Running

Dedicate 2–3 days per week to aerobic running to simulate the 1 km transitions between stations.

Training Priorities for HYROX

Preparing for a HYROX race requires a balanced approach that develops both cardiovascular endurance and functional strength. Athletes should focus on building sustainable running capacity while becoming comfortable with repeated strength-based movements such as sled work, carries, lunges, and wall balls. Effective pacing is essential, as managing effort across all eight runs and workout stations is a major factor in maintaining performance throughout the race.
