About Alex
I am a University of Kent graduate with an interest in the unique way that each person learns and figuring out how to facilitate this. Although I'm natively English, I grew up in Luxembourg and learnt French from the age of 3. I consider myself bilingual and enjoy helping other people access new ways of communicating!
When I'm not tutoring, I am practicing yoga, reading, or skating.

I am enthusiastic about creating a supportive and exciting learning environment that increases your proficiency as well as confidence. I like to plan lessons around existing skills and interests, so that they feel engaging and encouraging.
When teaching children, I focus on the lesson feeling fun as well as packed with things to remember. I find that children learn best when engaged on their level, and will find ways to include content that speaks to them in order to encourage retention of information. When I learnt French (from a very young age - I'm bilingual!) I often felt shamed when I struggled, which discouraged me from engaging in lessons. This means that I strive to do the opposite with my teaching style, and inspire self-worth in order to encourage enjoyment and continued pursuit of learning.
I have taught English as a foreign language to primary school aged children as well as worked as a teaching assistant in SEND and mainstream schools. I also have a First Class degree from the University of Kent.
