About Tomas

I am a second year student of classical literature at the University of Bologna. I obtained a diploma with honors from the GBMorgagni Classical High School in Forlì after attending that school for three years (I finished the two-year course at the Carducci High School in Milan).
In 2019 I was third national classified at the Olympics of Classical Languages section Latin after being first in the regional selection and close to the pandemic I won the Latin certamen "Tebaldo Fabbri". I have a good teaching and repetition practice having held a live Latin course for three years (speaking the language and reading the authors without translation) to the students of my age in high school, with the result of getting them passionate and giving them the opportunity to experience this different type of approach to the subject. I then started my career as a tutoring teacher with positive results so far.

About the lesson

My teaching method, aimed at both high school and university students, adapts to the specificities of the individual case and the objectives of the repetition; the approach I follow is to equip the student with the fundamental tools for a self-sufficient translation and understanding of the text. I achieve this by proposing translations and exercises in the traditional way but with a strong contribution of the nature method or approach to Latin as well as to English, thus stimulating an autonomous production of Latin through the reading of texts in untranslated languages with questions and comments. The latter is the modality I adopt for the Latin 0 courses, that is learning from the basics or a reinforcement of knowledge for those who need it: in fact it is faster and more efficient as well as less burdensome in terms of grammar learning.
