About Caterina

Experienced and qualified teacher and lecturer. MA and BA in Classics. Master and PhD in Modern Languages. My experience in the education sector is diverse and draws from a broad range of practises. In my teaching I use my background as a linguist and academic researcher to cultivate and promote the analytical and humanistic potential of Latin and Ancient Greek. While undertaking my doctoral research, I was involved in teaching activities for the department. I delivered lectures, small tutorials and also developed individual plans for students requiring one-to-one assistance. My responsibilities included strictly monitoring their progress, liaising with other tutors and fulfilling pastoral duties.

About the lesson

In my teaching I use my background as a linguist and academic researcher to cultivate and promote the analytical and humanistic potential of Latin and Ancient Greek. While undertaking my doctoral research, I was involved in teaching activities for the department. I delivered lectures, small tutorials and also developed individual plans for students requiring one-to-one assistance. My experience as a teacher of Latin and Classics at a Sixth Form College further developed my teaching skills and posed a new intellectual challenge. I enjoyed facilitating the development of students as they transition to more challenging year levels. I taught a variety of age groups and with a wide range of abilities and from diverse social backgrounds. This has meant that I have embraced a variety of teaching techniques to meet the learning needs of everyone in the classroom. I consider myself motivated, empathetic and hard-working. As an educator, I believe my role is to nurture students’ academic and personal growth and to offer them the tools they need to thrive as students and, ultimately, citizens.
