About Jessica
I have a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Hunter College in New York City. While at Hunter, I studied with amazing authors including New York Times best-selling author Tea Obreht, National Book Award winner Colum McCann, Booker Prize winner Peter Carey, and Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner Adam Haslett. I was also a research assistant for Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead on his novels Nickle Boys and Harlem Shuffle. Prior this, I studied in the Creative Writing Certificate Program at UCSD Extension.
I specialize in flash and short stories and I have multiple publications in online and print literary journals, but I have a comprehensive education in all creative writing forms.

Each person has their own story. My goal is not to shape that story into a box, but to help the writer find the shape their story is meant to take and help them along as they craft it. I do this through discussing writing styles that my students are interested in, assigned reading tailored to the individual and their goals, as well as providing feedback on their works in progress.
