I have been playing guitar for 25 years and have gained experience in playing many different genres of music from classical duos I'm weddings and corporate events, solo performer to playing in 5 piece rockabilly bands to playing bass in Bluesideout. I have been teaching in schools across Cheshire with Music For Life.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
On the guitar I began my lessons with Mr Stephen Caswell where I learned musicianship skills, sight reading, accompaniment skills, duet lessons. At Stoke College my training was with John Lambert which also included duet and group work, enhanced guitar technique and developed in different styles including flamenco, jazz and spannish guitar to an advanced level. Also I studied with various teachers in masterclasses and musicianship as well.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I'm registered with The Registry of Guitar Tutors and the Musicians Union
- Tell me about some of your current students.
My students are ranging from beginners up to Grade 8 standard. They learn in a combination of classical and acoustic style but some of my students prefer to learn in a more modern style and are learning to play some current music in the charts. I always ensure that pupils choose the route they are most suited to pursuing.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I would definitely recommend Dave to anyone, group, school etc who is looking for a guitar teacher, I have come on in leaps and bounds since Dave has been teaching me. I have grown in confidence the most
So I would not hesitate to recommend Dave to anyone and would be pleased to talk to any prospective student.Dave displayed, not only his own considerable musical proficiency on the guitar, but also his ability to work creatively, helpfully and sympathetically with participants with little, or in some cases, no practical musical experience. His approach at all times is warm, friendly and patiently instructive. Dave is honest, helpful and caring.
He has guided me through four Registry Of Guitar Tutors Acoustic Guitar Exams, Which have included Initial stage, Preliminary Grade and Acoustic Guitar Grade 1 and Grade 2 all of which were past with Distinction. These grades were achieved by the time and patience Dave puts into my guitar lessons and the confidence he gives me ( currently he is helping me with Acoustic Guitar Grade 3. )
Dave takes the time to find out what and how the children like to learn and adapts his lessons to meet their needs. If the children request to learn a certain piece or style of music Dave will happily oblige as he likes to keep the lessons relevant to them. Dave keeps the teaching sessions relaxed and happy which helps to keep the children focused and enthusiastic.
I would highly recommend him to any future employer. He showed enthusiasm and sensitivity when working with young people, as well as clear musical skills on guitar and bass. It is nice to see when good musicians put their own need to play second to the job of encouraging and helping others, which Dave did consistently throughout the day. He worked as a team member and was friendly and helpful, a pleasure to work with.
