About Tatum
I have 6 years of experience teaching violin to high school and college students. Over this time, I have had the pleasure of working with around 300 students, helping them develop their skills and confidence. I believe that learning violin should be a joyful and rewarding experience for every student. My teaching philosophy focuses on patience, clear communication, and personalized lessons. I tailor each lesson to match the student’s goals and learning style, ensuring they feel supported and motivated. I emphasize both technical skills and musical expression to help students become well-rounded musicians. One of my proudest achievements is seeing many students perform successfully in recitals and competitions. I am committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where students can grow, enjoy music, and reach their full potential as violinists.

My teaching approach for violin is centered on real-life examples and case studies to make learning relatable and practical. Empathy is key in my lessons—I listen to each student’s struggles and support them with patience and encouragement, helping build their confidence.
Flexibility allows me to adapt lessons to fit each student’s pace and goals, making learning enjoyable and effective. I motivate students by setting achievable goals and celebrating their progress. Communication is important too; I clearly explain concepts and encourage students to ask questions, creating a friendly and open learning environment.
Besides violin, I teach related subjects like music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to give students a strong foundation. This well-rounded approach helps students become skilled and confident musicians.
