About Iris
I was born and raised in Chengdu, a beautiful city known for its rich culture, delicious food, and unique charm. Growing up immersed in this environment, I developed a deep appreciation for the Chinese language and its ability to convey emotions, ideas, and connections in such a meaningful way.
To me, Chinese is not just a language—it's probably the most romantic language that has ever existed. Its depth and subtlety allow for layers of meaning in every word and phrase. Whether in poetry, conversation, or daily life, Chinese has a unique way of connecting people on a deeper level. Each character tells a story, and its structure reflects a history and culture that spans thousands of years.
I believe that learning Chinese opens doors to understanding not only the language but also the culture, traditions, and perspectives of the people who speak it. It’s a language that encourages expression, fosters connection, and allows for endless exploration of its rich meanings. I aim to share this passion with my students, helping them not just learn the language but truly appreciate it.

My approach to tutoring is to integrate Chinese lessons with practical, everyday situations. I focus on providing students with language skills they can apply immediately, whether it's in conversations, work, or daily activities. This immersion-style teaching helps reinforce vocabulary and expressions in a natural, relatable way.
Teaching Methodology:
I use a combination of interactive conversation practice, listening exercises, and vocabulary building, always adapting to the student's pace and interests. I believe in correcting accents and refining pronunciation through real-life examples, which helps students gain confidence in their spoken Chinese.
Lesson Length:
Each lesson lasts at least one hour, giving enough time for in-depth practice and ensuring we cover both new content and review previous material.
Qualifications/Experience:
I have experience teaching Chinese to students who are passionate about the language. My prior students have been at various stages of learning, from beginners to intermediate speakers looking to improve their fluency.
