Teaching Techniques and Methods: My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. I blend traditional teaching methods with modern techniques, ensuring that each concept is thoroughly understood. I emphasize critical thinking, encouraging students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. I use a variety of teaching aids, such as visual presentations, maps, and diagrams, to make abstract concepts more tangible. Regular quizzes, discussions, and assignments are integral to my teaching, helping to reinforce learning and assess understanding continuously. The Usual Structure of a Class: A typical class begins with a brief review of the previous lesson, ensuring continuity in learning. I then introduce new topics, breaking them down into manageable sections. I encourage active participation through discussions and Q&A sessions. The latter part of the class often includes problem-solving exercises, case studies, or group activities, which help students apply what they've learned. I conclude each session with a summary of key points and a preview of the next topic, along with a short assignment or reading material to prepare students for the upcoming lesson. Special Features as a Teacher: I bring over a decade of teaching experience, coupled with a strong academic background in Geography, History, Political Science & Economics. My special feature lies in my ability to relate complex subjects to everyday life, making learning relevant and interesting for students. I am patient and approachable, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing doubts. I also tailor my teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. Classes for 9th & 10th (ICSE/CBSE) and 11th & 12th (CBSE and State Board): For students in classes 9th & 10th, I focus on building a strong foundation in Social Science, ensuring that they grasp the fundamental concepts of Geography, History, Political Science & Economics. I use interactive methods to make learning enjoyable and emphasize the importance of understanding over rote memorization. For 11th & 12th-grade students, I delve deeper into subject matter, preparing them for board exams and future academic pursuits. I cover the syllabus comprehensively, with a focus on critical analysis, essay writing, and effective exam strategies. My goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their exams and beyond.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Social Science is the study of human society and its interactions, covering subjects like history, geography, economics, and sociology. It helps us understand how societies function, how people interact within them, and how different systems like politics and economics shape our world.

It connects theory with real-life issues like development, governance, and societal change. My teaching experience and UPSC preparation have deepened my understanding of these topics, making it not just an academic subject but a way to engage with society and address real-world challenges.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My motivation for teaching Social Science stems from my interests and experiences. I've always found myself less inclined toward subjects like math, which made me appreciate the more relatable aspects of Social Science. It provides a realistic perspective on the world around us, helping me connect with everyday events, societal issues, and historical contexts that shape our lives.

Teaching Social Science allows me to share this understanding with students, fostering critical thinking and encouraging them to engage with their environment. It's rewarding to help them see the relevance of these subjects in their daily lives and inspire them to become informed and responsible citizens.
  • How does your work help society?

My work in teaching Social Science helps society by fostering critical thinking and awareness among students. By engaging them in discussions about history, geography, and social issues, I encourage them to understand the complexities of the world around them.

This not only equips them with knowledge but also empowers them to become informed citizens who can contribute positively to their communities. I aim to inspire students to think critically about societal challenges, enabling them to participate actively in shaping a better future. Ultimately, my role is about nurturing a generation that values informed decision-making and civic responsibility.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

The greatest role model in my work is the societal stereotype toward Social Science. Despite some perceptions that it's less rigorous compared to other subjects, this stereotype motivates me to demonstrate its importance and relevance.

I strive to show that Social Science is crucial for understanding our world, addressing social issues, and fostering informed citizenship. By challenging these stereotypes through my teaching, I hope to inspire students to appreciate the depth and significance of the subject, helping to reshape societal views and promote a more nuanced understanding of Social Science.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy a variety of hobbies that keep me engaged and balanced. I have a keen interest in reading, especially books on history and politics, which deepens my understanding of the subjects I teach.

I also enjoy practicing karate, as it helps me stay physically fit and disciplined, aligning with my aspirations of representing India in sports. Additionally, I like to explore nature through hiking, which gives me a chance to unwind and appreciate the environment. These hobbies not only enrich my personal life but also contribute to my effectiveness as a teacher by broadening my perspectives.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One memorable experience I had as a teacher involved a student who initially struggled with understanding the relevance of Social Science in his life. He often questioned why he needed to learn about history or geography.

To make the subject more relatable, I organized a project where students researched local history and its impact on our community today. This student chose to investigate the role of historical events in shaping local culture.

As he presented his findings, I saw a transformation in him. He became genuinely enthusiastic about his research, realizing how history influenced current social dynamics. It was rewarding to witness his newfound appreciation for Social Science, and it reinforced my belief in the subject's relevance. This experience reminded me of the power of education to inspire curiosity and engagement in students.
