About Isla

I’m a guitar teacher with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in Guitar. My journey with the instrument has taken me across styles, cultures, and continents of sound. I’ve led workshops on flamenco rhythms, the smooth flow of bossa nova, and the intricate phrasing of Hindustani classical guitar. These diverse styles have shaped my teaching into something vibrant and immersive. I believe every genre has a story, and every student has a voice. My lessons are interactive, layered with listening exercises, rhythm challenges, and cultural context. I work best with curious learners who want to explore beyond the standard repertoire. From improvisation to deep tone work, we craft your playing with intention and soul. I help students understand technique, but also how to feel what they play. Lessons are often guided by what lights you up—maybe it’s a groove, a scale, or a solo from across the globe. We balance structure with exploration, diving deep into phrasing, timing, and musical nuance. You’ll walk away not only with better skills, but with a broader musical perspective. About the lesson

My guitar teaching approach blends traditional technique with modern technology to make learning both efficient and inspiring. I use chord visualizers and interactive apps to help students see patterns and grasp theory faster. Loop pedals are a big part of how we build timing and layering skills in a hands-on way.

Recording software and DAWs bring our practice sessions to life—students learn to track their progress, shape their tone, and explore songwriting in real time. We dive into topics like tempo control, harmonics, and multi-track practice, always with tools that make the process engaging. If you’re someone who learns better through visuals or sound feedback, you’ll feel right at home.

I keep lessons structured yet flexible, meeting students where they are while gently challenging them to grow. Some of my learners love expressing themselves through composition; others need a clear path to stay motivated. I design lessons to support both.

Using tech doesn’t mean we skip fundamentals—it means we amplify them. I also teach students how to use technology mindfully, not as a crutch, but as a companion to their craft. Whether you’re experimenting with tone or shaping your first original song, I’m here to guide that creative journey.
