I consider myself a fun, responsible and hardworking person who does her best to prepare dynamic and entertaining learning lessons. I take pride in striking up relationships with my students and personalising their learning and listening to their needs and suggestions. I employ a student-centred approach that checks how the students feel regarding their own progression and offers encouragement at all times. My classes follow a communicative approach with conversational skills as the main focus. My classes follow a logical structure and are predominantly delivered in the target language to increase exposure to the language. Each class will try and cover all of the skills associated with learning a language i.e. listening, writing, reading and speaking through the use of activities that will prepare you for everyday scenarios. I prepare and provide my students with all the activities, handouts, references, podcasts and useful resources to supplement their learning, all tailored to the students' specific goals. Homework is marked outside the lessons to maximise your time in the class. All this experience has helped me to refine my lessons which are delivered in a clear and concise manner and at a suitable pace. I utilise different forms of media when appropriate to engage and deliver the objectives of the lesson.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Spanish fluently because it is my native language. I was born and raised in a Spain, and it has been a part of my life since childhood. However, I have also been inspired by many teachers who helped me refine my language skills and develop a deeper appreciation for Spanish literature and culture.
  • Can you name a living, historical, or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the Spanish language's culture?

When it comes to emblematic representatives of Spanish language and culture, one historical figure that stands out is Federico García Lorca. Lorca, the renowned writer, was born in Spain and his innovative artistic and progressive style and contributions have made a lasting impact on the literature world. His work reflects the creativity, passion, and expressive nature often associated with Spanish culture.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behavior in the Spanish language that you particularly like?

One phrase in the Spanish language that I find endearing is "¡Qué bonito!" These expressions mean "How beautiful!" or "How lovely!" They capture the enthusiasm and appreciation for aesthetics often found in Spanish-speaking cultures. It's a delightful way to express admiration for something visually appealing.
  • Why does speaking the Spanish language matter to you?

Speaking the Spanish language matters to me because it allows me to connect with a vast community of Spanish speakers around the world. It enables me to communicate, understand, and appreciate diverse cultures, literature, music, and traditions. Being able to speak Spanish also gives me the opportunity to share the beauty of the language with others and help them in their journey of language learning.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning the Spanish language, and what can help the learning process?

For many learners, one of the main difficulties in learning Spanish is mastering verb conjugations and grammar rules. Spanish has various verb tenses and grammatical nuances that can be challenging to grasp. Additionally, pronunciation, particularly the rolled "r," can pose a difficulty. To overcome these challenges, consistent practice, exposure to authentic Spanish conversations, using resources like textbooks, online courses, and language exchange programs, and immersing oneself in Spanish-speaking environments are all beneficial.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Certainly! When I was learning English, I remember struggling with the irregular verb conjugations in the past. It felt overwhelming to remember all the different forms and endings. However, my teacher introduced a fun activity where we created songs using the verb forms. We sang and danced to these songs, which made the learning process much more enjoyable and helped me remember the conjugations effortlessly. It taught me the importance of incorporating creativity and fun into language learning.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the Spanish language?

Traveling to Spanish-speaking countries has been an invaluable experience for me as a Spanish teacher. Immersing myself in the local culture and interacting with native speakers has allowed me to practice and refine my language skills. It has provided me with a deeper understanding of different regional accents, idiomatic expressions, and cultural nuances that I can share with my students. Traveling also gives me firsthand exposure to the different authentic contexts in which the language is used.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

As a Spanish teacher, my expertise in the language comes from years of study, practice, and teaching experience. I have a deep understanding of Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and cultural aspects. I continuously strive to enhance my knowledge through professional development, staying updated on language trends, and engaging with Spanish-speaking communities. My goal is to share my expertise with my students, help them navigate the intricacies of the Spanish language, and guide them in their language learning journey.
