About Stavros
I am a fully Qualified Secondary School Teacher (Dip. Ed. UNSW, Sydney Australia, 2011 - Science) and I am an accredited secondary school teacher in New South Wales, Australia. Over the last 15 years, I have been involved in classroom teaching (after 2019) and private tuition (2008-2019) in the areas of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics for Exam/College Preparation as well as university-level courses. I have experience in the UK (GCSE/IGCSE & A-Levels - AQA, Edexcel, OCR exam boards), the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Physics (SL/HL) and Mathematics (SL/HL including the new curriculum), the Australian HSC (Year 11 & 12) School System as well as Oxbridge Admission tests (PAT/STEP/MAT/ENGAA). From the USA Curriculum, I am quite familiar with the AP AB and BC Calculus and AP Physics 1, 2, and C. I also have experience in the USA College/Universities Admission tests, such as the GRE Subject Tests (Physics and Mathematics).

Teaching Approach Apart from the context itself and the expertise in the related fields, there are other essential components of successful teaching like personality, enthusiasm, versatility, appreciation of the importance of outreach, and most importantly a relation of understanding between the lecturer and the students. Apart from the previous, I think that it is crucial to provide students with a working knowledge of physical systems and to teach them problem-solving skills to build upon this knowledge. Teaching a person to think analytically is at the core of what a student should take away from any science or mathematics course. For students not majoring in physics/math, it is important to teach them how science affects their daily lives and how to make informed decisions about it based on the information available. For physics/math majors it is crucial to teach them the knowledge pertinent to their course of study and how scientists solve difficult problems using approximation, computational, and other quantitative methods. These important tools are invaluable to future researchers because they aid in the careful design of experiments and in determining the predictions of a model or theory. I would also strive to cover a range of topics in my courses. This would enable me to teach an array of different methods for approaching physical problems and to demonstrate how similar approaches can be applied to problems from disparate fields. Furthermore, being a theoretician, I am well suited to teach physics majors how to construct theories and models, derive predictions from these models, and test these predictions against empirical data they have collected from the literature or obtained in the laboratory. From my experience, I learnt the importance of engaging students through examples and of pitching material at a level that assumes intelligence but not necessarily knowledge, blending the known with the unknown in a combination that gives the student the feeling of possibility rather than that of impossibility that formal and impressive methods may impose. I would also enjoy teaching introductory physics courses. Although it is often challenging to teach introductory students, it is a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. Preparing lectures and solution sets forces me to communicate fundamental ideas in simple terms and to think deeply again about some of the most basic principles in physics and math. During my graduate school period, I had the chance to become familiar with the system of tutorials that some of the British universities offer. This much more personalised system provides the opportunity of outside-of-the-classroom discussion and interaction which are a crucial part of the learning process. Many students who are reserved in class, ask excellent questions in smaller settings and thus, learn much more. I greatly value the instruction and mentorship I received while in college and feel strongly about providing quality education to current and future students. In regards to teaching international students, I am aware and over the years I have used several strategies to make classroom management and lesson delivery more effective. For example, I always communicate classroom expectations and policies clearly from the beginning of the course. I always try to speak clearly and be concise in my instructions (verbal or written), provide vocabulary at the beginning of a new topic and allow students to use a dictionary and other equipment that would assist them in the learning process. I always encourage students to make use of office hours and make course materials available in print and on the electronic blackboard. Furthermore, I am trying to incorporate opportunities for collaborative learning. Over the years I have become a supporter of the “inverted classroom” approach, especially for students who are used to a “lecture” type of teaching style or teachers who are distant and authoritative.

Stavros Mouslopoulos is a person with deep understanding of both Physics and Mathematics.
He has many years of tutoring experience in the USA, Australia and Greece. He has collaborated with me during his stay in Greece and I am confident that he will be a fine addition to your group of tutors.
Best wishes

University of Patras, GreeceIt is with great pleasure that I write a reference for Dr Stavros Mouslopoulos, who has been tutoring my son, Joshua for his IB Diploma program in the subjects of Mathematics and Physics. In the time spent with my son, he has managed to improve his IB band scores for Maths and Physics from Band 3-4s to band 6-7s respectively.
Stavros is a highly qualified and an excellent tutor. He showed patience and step by step, methodology to effectively deliver his tutorials. He was always accessible for discussion, especially during exams period. His knowledge of both subjects is wide and full of breadth, and there were no tricky questions that were beyond his ability to elucidate clearly in the tutorials.
Hence it is without hesitation that I recommend Dr Stavros Mouslopoulos for a fantastic tutor in IB Diploma.
Yours sincerely

This note is to confirm that Stavros was employed by us as a part-time HSC physics tutor for our son, Eric. Stavros tutored Eric for 1-2 hours per week during this time.
We found Stavros to be a pleasant, good-humoured young man with a good command of English and a strong interest in teaching. His broad interests in university life also made him a good role model. He prepared well for his tutorials and was able to use a variety of teaching aids. We feel he contributed positively to Eric’s HSC performance and would have no hesitation in re-employing him for a similar task in the future.
Yours sincerely,
George & Helen LarcosIts with great pleasure that I recommend Stavros for tutoring mathematics and physics anywhere from high school to post graduate university. Stavros tutored all 4 of my children. He has an amazing ability to simplify very complex concepts.
To whom it may concern:
I have known Stavros Mouslopoulos for a year while he has been tutoring my
15-year-old daughter in Year 9 mathematics.
I have found Stavros to be an extremely competent and diligent maths
teacher. He has a deep knowledge of the subject and an ability to make
complex concepts understandable. My daughter‘s understanding of her
mathematics course work improved markedly over a year of tuition.
Stavros has a calm and cheerful temperament which is ideally suited to
teaching. My daughter an at times be distracted and it is to his credit that
instead of becoming annoyed, he has the experience to return her focus
tactfully to the task at hand.
My daughter has had other maths tutors in the past but has regarded these
private lessons as a tedious chore. Her attitude to maths tutoring has changed
since she started studying with Stavros, as his skilful teaching and friendly.
relaxed demeanour have made the subject palatable for her.
Stavros has always been punctual. polite and extremely professional in his
work. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to a prospective employer.
