About Marleen

My name is Marleen, I am originally from Estonia but have been based in the UK for 5 years now. I have graduated the Academy of Contemporary Music with first class honours in Creative Artistry specialising in singing, songwriting, music production and music business. I’m currently at the cusp of finishing my Masters degree in Popular Music (principal study - vocals) at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have previously worked for Open2Music and teaching one-to-one lessons at different schools for a year. Since the beginning of this year I have been working at The Music Place in Altrincham. Aside from teaching I am pursuing my career as an independent artist and working as a freelance musician. I have extensive knowledge in vocal technique, songwriting, music theory and music production. As an independent artist I have gained a knowledge of what it means to take a song idea and polish it to a release quality song.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is based on the needs of the student. We can look at various songwriting techniques to boost creativity and/or listen to your songs or song ideas to hone in on what can further be improved. Possible focus areas include lyric writing, melody writing, arrangement, chart writing, music production and recording. My lessons are for all levels and all ages are welcome. I am always doing my best to create a friendly and encouraging atmosphere in the lessons! Currently teaching online only.
