  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in teaching the Quran and Arabic began early in life. Growing up in an environment where Islamic education was highly valued, I found myself naturally drawn to the beauty of the Quran and the depth of the Arabic language. My years at Al-Azhar University further deepened this passion. After graduating, I began offering private lessons, and I quickly saw how impactful one-on-one tutoring could be — helping students from different backgrounds connect with the Quran and classical Arabic in a meaningful way. Since then, private tutoring has become not just a profession but a calling.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in teaching Quran, Tajweed, Arabic language, and Islamic studies. I enjoy exploring the linguistic beauty of the Quran, the rules of Tajweed, and helping students understand not just the pronunciation but the meanings behind the verses. I particularly enjoy discussing classical grammar (Nahw and Sarf) and Quranic interpretation (Tafsir), as they allow students to deepen their comprehension and appreciation of the text. I find more mechanical topics like rote vocabulary memorization less engaging unless they’re tied to real understanding — so I always try to connect everything back to context and purpose.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was greatly influenced by some of my professors at Al-Azhar University, whose passion, humility, and mastery of the sciences inspired me deeply. One of my Qur'an teachers had a unique way of making every verse feel alive — both in recitation and explanation. His balance of precision, spiritual depth, and genuine care for his students left a lasting impression on me, and I try to carry that same spirit into my own teaching.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor must have patience, clarity, and adaptability. Especially in fields like Quran and Arabic, students progress at very different paces. A good tutor must be able to explain concepts in various ways, engage with students respectfully, and nurture both their knowledge and confidence. I also believe in the importance of being a role model, particularly in Islamic education — embodying the values you teach is just as important as conveying the information.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I once taught a young student living in a non-Arabic-speaking country who struggled with reading even basic Arabic. Over time, with consistent support and tailored lessons, he not only learned to read the Qur’an fluently with Tajweed but also developed a love for learning Arabic grammar. The moment he recited a full Surah confidently for the first time — with tears in his eyes — reminded me why this work is so meaningful. It’s not just about the language; it’s about helping people connect with something sacred.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

One challenge is teaching students who come from very diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The way Arabic is taught must be adjusted for each learner — and this demands a lot of creativity and flexibility. Also, online teaching has its own challenges, like keeping younger students engaged through a screen. However, with experience, tools, and the right teaching approach, these challenges can be overcome effectively.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Teaching itself is my greatest passion, especially when it’s connected to the Quran. There’s a unique joy in seeing a student connect deeply with the Word of Allah — whether it's through memorization, understanding the meaning, or refining their recitation. Beyond that, I also enjoy exploring classical Islamic texts and continuously learning myself, as I believe a teacher should always be a student at heart.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions 😄)?

I believe what makes me a “Superprof” is my commitment to quality, authenticity, and spiritual purpose in every lesson. I strive to build meaningful relationships with my students, create a safe and welcoming environment for learning, and offer lessons that go beyond mechanics — lessons that inspire, transform, and connect hearts with the Quran and the Arabic language. I tailor my teaching to each student’s level and goals, whether they’re beginners or advanced learners, and I never stop looking for ways to improve and serve better.
