About Katie

My name is Katie St. Francis - Oxford University BA Medieval and Modern Languages (French & German) Undergraduate. Alumnus of a top-flight grammar school (state school!) in the UK.

I pursued a truly wide range of GCSE and A-Level subjects. For a while, I couldn't quite narrow down what I wanted to study at university, knowing that I was provably passionate about languages but inevitably prognosticating about the security of a more 'traditional' degree.

I navigated the Oxbridge Admissions process as a state-school, first-generation student with an excellent range of results.

In the past, I've tutored GCSE- and A-Level students in Mathematics, the sciences and, above all, in languages. I have also helped several students through the Oxbridge Admissions process.

My tutoring approach, although applicable to a remarkable range of subject expertise and many different ages, is uniquely singular, to match the individuality of my students. In general, my approach is prescriptive and completist, with a special focus on the 'problem areas' in learning. Although these weak spots are merely a consequence of brain chemistry and patterning, it is true that a lack of confidence in these areas can constitute the granular difference between grade boundaries. I enjoy working with students to bridge these gaps in knowledge.

I tutor for students of all ages: Oxbridge aspirants, A-Level and GCSE students. My approach varies from one qualification level to the next; whilst A-Level students generally display the ability to identify their problem areas and communicate with me about it, I work with students of all ages to find these academic hesitancies, sometimes noticing them before even they do.

When it comes to Oxbridge Applications, I like to use my experience from a particularly competitive year of admissions to advise students, and knowledge I've since accrued through communicating with my tutors about the process. I coach my students through every stage of the renowned procedure.
