About John
I hold a Ph.D. in Genetics, Electrophysiology, and Mosquito Olfaction and Behavior from Florida International University, where I excelled in both academic coursework and research endeavors. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the DeGennaro Lab of Mosquito Genetics and Behavior, I conducted groundbreaking studies, including verifying genetic insertions and leading a clinical research study involving 119 human volunteers. This role honed my skills in genetic engineering, data analysis, and project management. Additionally, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, where I imparted knowledge on genetic engineering and bioinformatics to undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with Honors, Cum Laude, from Florida International University. My academic journey has equipped me with a diverse skill set, including proficiency in Python, R, and Bash scripting for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning.

My passion for biology stems from its role as the blueprint of life, shaping organisms from the molecular level to complex traits. Exploring genetic intricacies fuels my curiosity, driving me to unravel biological mysteries and provide knowledge about scientific advancements. I use hand on teaching with real world problems to help students understand why Biology is so relevant and important. My courses are for all levels spanning from high school to college to medical school exam prep.
