About David

Teaching guitar over the last seven years has been an extraordinary journey, full of memorable moments and rewarding experiences. Working primarily with school and college students, I have developed a teaching philosophy that respects each individual’s musical tastes and learning style. Whether a student wants to strum their favorite pop songs, dive into classical techniques, or write their own music, I adapt my lessons to keep them motivated and engaged. The foundation of my teaching is building strong technical skills—proper hand positioning, finger strength, chord transitions, and rhythmic accuracy—because these are essential for confident playing and long-term progress. But I also believe that guitar playing is about much more than mechanics; it’s about emotional expression, storytelling, and connection. I integrate music theory seamlessly into lessons, using songs and improvisation to make abstract concepts accessible and exciting. One highlight of my career was supporting a group of students who started a band together, progressing from basic practice to live performances at school events and local festivals. This experience underscored the importance of teamwork, creativity, and perseverance. I am committed to fostering these qualities while helping students discover their own musical path and develop lifelong skills through the guitar.

About the lesson

To me, teaching Guitar is about helping students develop confidence and creativity through music that matters to them. I believe learning should feel personal and empowering, not rigid or intimidating. That’s why I focus on your musical interests first — we use the songs, artists, and styles you care about to build the lessons.

We still work on all the essentials — rhythm, technique, expression, musical understanding — but it’s all connected to real music you enjoy. This helps you stay motivated and makes each lesson feel relevant and rewarding. I keep progress at the center of every lesson. Whether you’re learning a new chord, tightening your timing, or writing a riff, I make sure there’s always something to celebrate. When something’s tricky, I don’t just tell you to “keep practicing” — I help you understand what’s getting in the way, and how to fix it in a way that builds long-term skill.

I give honest feedback that supports your growth, while also helping you feel safe and respected in the learning process. I never compare students or push too fast — we move at your pace, and I adjust how I teach based on how you learn. Some students prefer structure and step-by-step progression; others prefer exploration and creative play. I support both.

I also help with related musical topics like songwriting, improvising, and getting comfortable performing — whatever direction you want to explore. My goal is to help you become the kind of guitarist you want to be — and to enjoy every step of the journey along the way.
