  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My journey with Accounting began 27 years ago in high school, when I took my first Accounting course and instantly knew-this is my subject. That initial spark turned into a deep passion for numbers, which continued to grow throughout my academic career. During both my undergraduate and graduate studies, I made sure to include at least one Accounting or Finance course each semester to stay motivated and engaged.

Along the way, classmates and juniors began reaching out for help, and I naturally stepped into a tutoring role. Whether it was in the cafeteria, on the university bus, over the phone, or at home, I found myself explaining concepts and helping others succeed. Eventually, this informal support evolved into professional tutoring-both in-person and online. I truly enjoy breaking down complex topics and making learning accessible and enjoyable for students.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in tutoring Accounting and Finance and have taught a wide range of subjects in this area, including Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Managerial Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Modeling, Corporate Finance, and Financial Budgeting and Forecasting. My personal favorites to teach are Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Financial Forecasting, and Financial Analysis-topics where I get to help students truly connect the dots and build real-world understanding.

But beyond the numbers, what truly defines my teaching style is the holistic, heart-centered approach I bring to each session. Every new student begins with a 15-20-minute conversation where I take the time to understand their academic needs, personal challenges, and goals. From there, each lesson is tailored not just to the subject, but to the student's individual pace, personality, and learning style.

As a Certified Meditation Teacher and healer, I incorporate tools from the Silva Method, breathwork, and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) into my practice. These techniques help students manage academic stress, improve focus, and develop the confidence they need to thrive. I believe real learning happens when the student feels seen, supported, and empowered-and that's exactly the environment I strive to create. My sessions are designed to not only teach, but to uplift, motivate, and guide each student to their academic and personal best.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I've been incredibly fortunate when it comes to teachers, and I say that with immense pride and gratitude. Throughout my academic and personal development journey-whether it was Mathematics or History, Literature or Finance, Meditation or Mind Sciences-I've had the privilege of learning from some of the most inspiring educators.

Each one left a lasting impression on me, not just through their knowledge, but through their passion, dedication, and the way they connected with their students. Their influence continues to shape the kind of tutor I strive to be today-committed, compassionate, and deeply invested in my students' growth. I carry forward their legacy in every session I teach, and I'll forever be grateful for the impact they've had on my life.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor

To be a good tutor, empathy is key-the ability to truly understand where a student is coming from, both academically and emotionally. Every student has their own learning style, pace, and set of challenges, so a tutor must be patient, adaptable, and genuinely invested in the student's growth.

Strong subject knowledge is essential, but just as important is the ability to communicate that knowledge in a clear, engaging, and supportive way. A great tutor knows how to build confidence, encourage curiosity, and create a safe space for learning.

It's also important to understand that tutoring is very different from traditional teaching. While teaching often follows a structured, one-way approach, tutoring is a two-way dialogue that centers the student. It begins with listening-really listening-to the student's needs, challenges, and perspective. A good tutor knows when to step back and let the student speak first. Lessons are then customized accordingly, making the learning experience far more meaningful and effective.

With my background in the Silva Method, NLP, breathwork, and meditation, I also bring a calming, supportive energy into my sessions. I aim to uplift, inspire, and guide each student not only toward academic results, but toward personal confidence and clarity as well.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Tutoring has given me the wonderful opportunity to connect with amazing individuals and witness truly inspiring success stories. While there are many moments that I cherish, here are two that are especially close to my heart:

    1. One student came to me with a deep fear-not just of numbers, but of talking about studies altogether. He lacked confidence and felt overwhelmed by academics. Through a combination of heart-based tutoring and my skills as an NLP Practitioner, I focused on rebuilding his self-belief while gently guiding him through the subject. Within a year, not only did he graduate with excellent grades, but he also gained a renewed sense of purpose and confidence in life. Today, he's happily pursuing the things he always dreamed of doing. His transformation remains one of the most fulfilling experiences of my tutoring journey.

    2. About a year ago, I was approached by a lawyer working at a software company in Florida. Though highly accomplished in his own field, he had never studied Accounting before and found it difficult to follow discussions at work around receivables, payables, patents, and other financial topics. Over the course of four months, we worked together to build a solid foundation in Accounting and Finance. By the end of our sessions, not only had he developed a strong understanding of the subject, but he also began contributing confidently and insightfully to financial discussions at work. Seeing that transformation was incredibly rewarding
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Honestly, I haven't faced any major difficulties with the subject itself-Accounting and Finance have always felt natural and exciting to me. However, one challenge I do often see is timing-many students tend to seek help only right before exams.

While I'm always happy to support students at any stage, I strongly encourage them to start earlier and focus on building a solid conceptual foundation. Once those core concepts are in place, even the most complex problems become much easier to understand and solve. A strong base not only improves academic performance but also boosts long-term confidence in the subject.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Being the eldest child, I naturally stepped into the role of caretaker early in life. I was academically strong, so family members-both immediate and extended-often came to me for academic support. Over time, I realized that mentoring and educating others wasn't just something I did-it had become my passion.

Everything I've pursued, whether it's tutoring in Finance or guiding students through meditation and mindfulness, has been rooted in one purpose: to create a positive impact in people's lives. My true passion lies in helping others reconnect with their inner potential-academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether it's breaking down complex financial concepts or helping someone find clarity and calm through breathwork or the Silva Method, my motivation is always the same: to support growth, confidence, and a deeper connection to one's higher self.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)

What makes me a Superprof is my student-centered, results-driven approach rooted in empathy, structure, and empowerment.

Every journey with a student begins with a 10-minute call to understand their challenges, learning style, and goals. This first step allows me to design a personalized lesson plan that plays to their strengths while addressing areas of improvement. My lessons focus on four core pillars:
    a) Strengthening foundational concepts
    b) Consistent practice
    c) Building confidence
    d) And effective exam preparation

But beyond academics, what truly defines me as a tutor is the environment I create. I make it a priority to ensure every student feels heard, supported, and understood. I believe confidence is just as important as content knowledge-and often, it's the key to unlocking academic success.

Whether we're breaking down complex financial concepts or navigating exam stress, I meet my students where they are, with patience, encouragement, and a commitment to helping them reach their highest potential.
