About Sanika

I’m a violin tutor with over six years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education in Strings – Violin. My background includes directing youth orchestras, leading group violin classes, and coaching string ensembles in both school and community settings. I’ve worked with students of all ages, helping them grow through structured, collaborative music-making. Much of my work focuses on developing ensemble skills—listening, blending, tuning together, and supporting one another musically. I emphasise section leadership, teamwork, and understanding the unique role of the violin within a group. My lessons often explore ensemble dynamics, cueing, and how to adjust tone and timing in real time. I’ve taught in schools, community centres, and chamber groups, always adapting to the needs of each learning environment. Whether in a classroom or a rehearsal hall, I bring energy, patience, and a passion for group learning. Playing in an ensemble teaches more than just music—it builds trust, focus, and connection. I love guiding students towards that shared sense of rhythm and purpose. Together, we discover the joy of growing through music, one rehearsal at a time.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for violin is focused, supportive, and designed to bring out each student’s best. I start with strong foundations—good posture, proper bow hold, and left-hand placement—so that students build healthy technique from the beginning. We work on bowing control, intonation, and tone development through simple exercises and familiar melodies. I guide students to play with clear sound and confidence, no matter their starting point. For those who love to sing or have experience in choirs, I help connect their natural musicality to violin playing. This includes learning how to shape phrases, add emotion, and play with expressive dynamics. We also explore reading music, playing by ear, and developing rhythmic accuracy. My lessons are paced to fit each learner’s comfort and ability. I often use easy songs and warm-ups to help students relax and enjoy the process. With patience and encouragement, I help students grow both their skill and their love for music. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your playing, I’m here to support your journey.
