About Tamara
I am an MA student who grew up bilingual as my parents are German and we moved to West Sussex when I was a child. I very quickly became enamoured with Shakespeare's plays and my MA is in Performing Shakespeare. Languages are a big part of my life and in addition to English and German I took French in school and am currently trying to teach myself Spanish.
I have two years of tuition experience with students both looking to do their 11+ as well as their GCSEs. I'm particularly proud of my German student last year who achieved an A* in his GCSEs.
My style of tutoring is personal and adaptable to keep both areas we need to work on as well as attention span in mind. As a rule I prefer to do 1 or 2 hour sessions and if more sessions a week are wished for, I prefer to do them on another day to give the student a bit of a breather.
I also like to work with my own material, especially for German as I find the textbooks lacking in certain things we might need to focus on. This can take the form of developed worksheets or hand-written notes.
This also means that preferably the student will have a folder or notebook to keep our work accessible and separate from other schoolwork and as we may refer back to it, this is quite important.
