About Chrys

Former student of the Preparatory Class (CPGE), graduate of Sciences Po (Institute of Political Studies - including a year at UNLV Nevada), holder of a DEA in Modern Literature, my background is rich, multidisciplinary and internationally oriented.

To innovate pedagogically, I followed a training on mental maps / mind mapping and a training in psychosociology in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). It is thanks to these different tools and their synergy that I can give the same quality of lessons in as many subjects: French, philosophy, SES/HGGSP, history-geography (and tutoring).

I have always been passionate about writing in all its forms, but especially poetry. As a child and teenager I devoured books, as an adult I went to the other side, writing myself. A few years ago I discovered haikus, short Japanese poems. I am currently writing a novel and a collection of poems in various forms (haikus, versified poetry, poetic prose etc.) in collaboration with an illustrator.

3 excerpts of which I am the author (the first 2 are haikus) - copyright protected:

"Encore embrumée de rêves
que l’aube fragmente -
lumière d’été"

"Falling rain in my mind
like cloud whispers -
end of September"

In 2021, the average of my students in the French baccalaureate exams was 15 for the written and 18 for the oral.

Unique expertise:

- education professional: high school teacher and author
- more than 12,000 hours of private lessons (more than 900 families accompanied)
- innovative pedagogy, tools from neurosciences
- perfect mastery of new school programs (intensive preparation for the baccalaureate etc.)
- 100% personalized coaching
- unique method of working on written expression
- availability 7/7 and 24/24 for my students in regular follow-up
- friendliness and human values

I work in exclusive collaboration with my husband Christophe (diminutive Chris) professor of mathematics.

With 15 years of experience in finance, in a major national bank, I stand out for the richness of my multidisciplinary background. I combine editorial and literary skills as well as more technical skills in Economic and Social Sciences and Geopolitics. This long experience in the banking sector has given me a high level of expertise in the professional world which considerably enriches my job as a teacher. I know both theory and practice.

My passion, moreover, for literature and my vocation for teaching made me leave the world of finance to become, since then, a French teacher, currently in a large Parisian high school. I am a proofreader and examiner for the Brevet and Baccalauréat. I also give, in parallel, about thirty hours a week of private lessons for many years.

Rich in an internationally oriented experience with students from all countries educated in French high schools abroad (Côte d'Ivoire, Kuwait, Senegal, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Qatar, China etc.), my pedagogy is very diverse.

I offer my courses in video with an offer, here too, unique (very high speed connection quality with La Fibre, use of a studio with dedicated professional equipment: HD webcam, microphone, etc.) so that the student has the best possible distance learning experience, as comfortable as face-to-face but without the inconveniences.

Passionate about my job, I adapt to each student, whatever their level, from those who are experiencing difficulties to those who are already at the top of the class and who are looking to consolidate their achievements.

I keep myself regularly informed of the latest pedagogical advances in cognitive neuroscience. So I make my students work according to the SRS method - method of spaced repetition - (work on memorization).
I use innovative teaching methods, different from those usually used in class (mental maps / mind map, coaching tools ...) to raise my students to the maximum of their possibilities.

My approach: to move my students from simple "readers" to "authors" of their own writings. I train them in writing, in finding their own style to gain expression, understanding, autonomy and maturity. It is "empowerment", an American term which designates the reappropriation of power by oneself... from simple "passive" the young person, little by little, becomes "active" and "participant" in his own education. Learning to "become"...

Finally, the lessons are always done in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is indeed when the course is pleasant, both for the teacher and for the student, that the latter reaches its full potential.

My offer, in detail:

❖❖❖ For primaries ❖❖❖

See our common file with my husband, very detailed, "School support" (select this subject on the "France" zone or tick "remotely" in the search engine).

❖❖❖ For college students ❖❖❖

Grammar, conjugation, spelling, writing, understanding texts. See also our "School Support" sheet.

❖❖❖ For 2nd and 1st high school students: French ❖❖❖

The methodology of the commentary: "check-lists" of literary processes, on all the objects of study of the program (theatre, poetry, novel, literature of ideas); analysis of each text in the form of a map/diagram; numerous standard plans; quick method for introduction and conclusion; tricks in order to be able to “mechanically” process a text deemed “difficult”.

The dissertation: a clear explanation of the notion of thesis/antithesis is made. They then know how to perfectly develop a standard plan that answers the question asked. For the content, the course can be worked with them, course books will also be recommended to them in addition.

Text contraction and essay are covered.

The baccalaureate oral:

The students provide me with their description (list of texts). We redo together, if necessary, a linear analysis of each of his texts. We are preparing the presentation of the chosen work with the possible questions for the 2nd part of the test.

Oral preparation is then supplemented by coaching-type tools. I give them advice and tips to be at their best on the day of the oral (additional material to provide, advice on attitudes and gestures to adopt, etc.).

Organization of white orals on all texts.

A standard scoring grid for correctors is transmitted and explained.

I offer them original and relevant ideas to then “shine” at the time of the conclusion and, thus, stand out from the other students.

❖❖❖ For high school students: philosophy and HLP ❖❖❖

Philosophy finally within everyone's reach! A reputedly demanding subject approached with simplicity and pedagogy (with examples taken from films or everyday life).

I propose :

For students at the end of 1re: an introductory course in philosophy before entering the final year. On the program: for each of the 17 notions I approach the course, with the possible problems and the essential texts of philosophers. The student is thus perfectly at ease to tackle the subject in September and to be able to listen actively in class.

For final year students: follow-up during the school year. On the program: explanation and deepening of each chapter (notions, benchmarks, authors), training on subjects from the annals of the baccalaureate. Preparation for 2 types of tests: the dissertation and the text explanation.

HLP specialty: work on the content of the program and training for the tests (question of interpretation, question of reflection, essay), preparation for the Grand Oral.

❖❖❖ For final year students: SESAME and ACCESS competitions ❖❖❖

Training for the tests (MCQ and synthesis).

❖❖❖ For students in eco and commercial preparatory classes ❖❖❖

The summary, the contraction of text and the study and synthesis of texts (BCE competition and Ecricome Prépa).

These events require technical skills and training. This is where my students will earn points and make the difference.

❖❖❖ For all ❖❖❖

For all students who wish to improve their level of expression, I use several methods including the writing of haikus (short Japanese poems). The constraint of respecting precise writing rules makes it possible to draw on resources that will allow greater creativity. "Art lives on constraints and dies on freedom" Michelangelo.

To open their minds: I guide them towards choices of radio and television programs, readings, in connection with the program studied in class... My objective is to help them to blossom intellectually.

For me, the work of a teacher is not just about theoretical knowledge. It must also teach them to think for themselves, to grow and to become. I have a very global and original approach to education: both humanistic but also very pragmatic (succeeding in achieving your academic goals, working to surpass yourself!).

Montaigne, Essais, I, 26, "De l'institution des enfants"
