About Ashley

I’m a committed and creative voice teacher with over 8 years of experience helping singers of all levels develop technical confidence and emotional freedom in their singing. My teaching philosophy is rooted in balance—grounded in healthy vocal mechanics, yet flexible and personalized to meet the creative needs of each student. I focus on foundational skills such as breath efficiency, posture, pitch accuracy, and vocal placement, and then build on those with artistry—exploring phrasing, vocal tone, storytelling, and stage presence.

Whether you're a student auditioning for a performing arts program, a songwriter building your sound, or an adult beginner singing for the love of it, I tailor lessons to match your goals, vocal style, and personal pace. I also integrate modern tools like app-based pitch tracking, backing tracks, and recorded feedback sessions to help reinforce learning between lessons. We’ll work on a range of musical genres, including Broadway, pop, R&B, folk, and more—learning not just how to sing them, but how to feel and interpret them.

I also coach on performance readiness, microphone technique, audition strategy, and mindset for managing nerves. I strive to create a space where each student feels heard, encouraged, and motivated to grow. Many of my students have gone on to earn lead roles in productions, compete in music festivals, or record their own songs. But more importantly, they’ve learned to trust and enjoy their voice—and that’s what I value most.

About the lesson

Singing is a transformative art that combines the physical precision of vocal technique, the emotional power of storytelling, and the cultural richness of diverse musical traditions to forge authentic artistic expression.

My teaching philosophy revolves around Integration, Imagination, Respect, and Progression. Integration means developing a holistic awareness of breath, vocal placement, and posture that supports healthy, flexible, and resonant singing. I emphasize connecting mind and body to create a balanced vocal mechanism that enables effortless sound production.

Imagination fuels creative growth; I encourage students to experiment with phrasing, dynamics, and emotional nuance through improvisational exercises, storytelling, and role-playing, helping them discover and refine their personal artistic voice. Respect is foundational—I incorporate a wide variety of musical genres and cultural repertoires to foster an inclusive learning experience that broadens musical horizons and cultivates cultural empathy.

Progression is nurtured through individualized goals, structured practice plans, and constructive feedback that motivate continual improvement and artistic maturity. I strive to create a supportive and dynamic space where technical skill, creative exploration, and cultural appreciation merge to empower every singer to find their authentic voice and express it with confidence and passion.
