About Xavier

Having taught piano for 10 years to more than 150 students, I’ve learned that each learner benefits from an approach that balances technical skill-building with expressive freedom. I emphasize developing finger dexterity, rhythmic precision, and sight-reading skills while encouraging dynamics, phrasing, and tone to bring music to life. Theory and improvisation are integrated to deepen understanding and foster creativity. Lessons are tailored to match individual musical tastes and goals, whether classical, jazz, or popular genres. One memorable moment was guiding a student through overcoming performance anxiety to deliver a confident recital performance, boosting their self-esteem and passion for piano. I help students set achievable goals and maintain effective practice habits to support steady growth. My mission is to nurture confident, creative musicians who love playing.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching piano is rooted in patience, curiosity, and respect for each student’s individuality. I believe every person has a unique way of understanding and engaging with music, and I strive to bring that to life in my lessons.

I teach the fundamentals—like posture, scales, notation, dynamics, and rhythm—but I also prioritize emotional engagement and musical expression. Lessons with me often include guided listening, simple improvisation, and storytelling exercises to help students connect with what they’re playing. I’ve taught students from age 5 to 65, and I love how each brings a fresh perspective to the piano.

A standout experience was working with a teenager who was going through a tough time emotionally. Through music, they found a way to channel feelings they couldn’t express in words. Their transformation—from reluctant beginner to expressive performer—was deeply moving and affirmed the power of this art form. Piano, for me, is not just about performance—it’s about healing, discovery, and joy. I aim to make each lesson a step toward those outcomes.
