About Fred
I have taught writing and English literature for over 30 years in private schools in New England. For the last ten years, I have taught Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition. I've advised, mentored, and coached countless students. I've manned drop-in Writing Labs at high schools and universities; I can quickly assess a student's needs, the requirements of an assignment, and a path to success. My goal is to take the stress out of academic writing and give you the skills to become a confident, clear-voiced writer.

I work one-on-one with students to help them understand their teacher's expectations, organize their ideas, and produce a polished and effective written response.
I provide scaffolding, organization, and templates to support developing writers and offer practical guidance for students working on analytical thesis-driven essays.
Students will learn to construct thesis statements, embed and cite relevant evidence, and build lifelong editing and revising skills.
My students know me as a patient and good-humored teacher who has high expectations and a positive attitude.
I have worked with writers from grade 8 to first-year college students; I particularly enjoy working with international students.
