About Zoey
Hi! My name is Zoey and I am currently a sophomore at UC Santa Barbara. I am pursuing my Bachelor's in English and Psychological & Brain Sciences where I plan to go into graduate school after graduation. Beyond my academic work, I’m deeply committed to education and volunteering. I've had the privilege of teaching humanity and STEM lessons to young students as a before and after school teacher and fell in love with teaching. I am passionate about making a positive impact through teaching and love giving kids the confidence to achieve their goals. Outside of school and teaching, you can find me at the beach, reading, playing soccer, or drinking a matcha latte!

I make my lessons as engaging and easy to understand as possible. I use a combination of interactive techniques, such as discussion, games, and practice exercises, to make the material engaging but also effective for learning. Of course, I change my lesson and teaching style for each student, accommodating their needs as necessary. I teach K-8, meaning that I focus on building a strong foundation in English by teaching grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing, while also encouraging critical thinking and creativity. A typical tutoring session will start with a review/check-in, then an introduction of a concept, followed by a practice exercise, and finished with something more creative but applicable to the lesson. I have also in the past helped students with homework or essays, and if requested will focus on their schoolwork in our sessions as well! I am very patient and adaptable with all my students and have worked with a wide range of ages and English levels. If any special requests are needed to help your child learn more I am always willing to oblige them and happy to help!
