About Aaqil

I've been swimming since I was six years old, and I took up the sport quickly. Within two years of learning to swim, I made it to the senior squad at my high school. I have competed on several occasions for my school and have taken home trophies in relay tournaments. To prepare for contests, I also trained in a well-regarded club during my high school years. Additionally, I've got the chance to instruct others in the fundamentals of swimming and have been acknowledged by my school. I consider myself fortunate enough to have learned this sport, and I think everyone should do the same as it would be regarded as a life skill.

About the lesson

I will teach you the basics, from being comfortable in the water and underwater breathing exercises to learning the basics of swimming. I will progressively teach you intermediate techniques once I notice an improvement. I prefer to conduct 2-hour sessions but we can work with you any time you are free. I have experience in teaching young kids and teenagers to swim as I was a part of my high school swimming squad and had the chance to teach. My lessons are for everyone. I am also comfortable with doing family lessons as well.

Aaqil has been very supportive and helped me repetitively while being patient and encouraging me. I dove into the world of swimming when I was in Grade 2, the tender age of 7. Credit goes to my dad, who believed swimming is not just a life skill but also a key to a healthy childhood.
What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?
Football was my high-level pursuit for 6 rewarding years. From school vice-captain to captaining three seasons, I played in various tournaments nationwide.
What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?
Swimming isn't merely a sport; it's a love deeply woven into my life's fabric. The sheer joy of diving into the water and its transformative impact fuels my motivation. Challenges in swimming are like friendly rivals, pushing me beyond limits and fostering a mindset of continuous growth. It's not just about laps and strokes; it's about the personal journey, overcoming obstacles, and the perpetual drive to improve with each dive.
Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?
Winning my school's sports colours award for football stands as a pinnacle achievement, the highest recognition in my school for sports.
How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?
Every medal earned fueled my drive to better myself during training and practice, contributing to my growth as a sportsperson.
If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?
A jog with Michael Phelps and Lionel Messi would be a dream. I'd ask them about their mental preparation, the discipline that propels them to work every single day, regardless of circumstances.

Understanding the challenges of sports at a higher level, I empathize with the daily grind. It's not just the end goal that matters; it's about how one carries themselves every day to reach that point.
