About Greg

I am a qualified teacher of both science and maths, and have taught and tutored for over five years now with excellent results. I have also been a head of physics. I have degrees in physics and sports science.

My sessions use varied methods such as diagrams, animations, being the teacher tasks, model answers and exam questions to keep students engaged and learning.

The thing I pride myself on above all else is my manner. It will be professional, friendly and supportive. It is important to me that a student enjoys their education to the fullest, as when this happens they thrive and the results follow.

About the lesson

Having been a full time teacher of science in a college, I am already an expert in the art of learning. I know the curriculums and exam boards of each subject inside and out, particularly at GCSE, and A Level for Maths and Physics having taught all of these to post-16 level.

Alongside this, I have many tutoring hours under my belt with a wide variety of students in both one-to-one and group settings. I encourage you to look at my reviews for details on how I have helped students achieve their goals.

I have studied all the sciences up to GCSE. Receiving A's for each of these and A's for Physics and Maths at A level. With a masters degree in physics and sports science I found myself having to learn all three sciences to a degree level as well as now being a fully qualified teacher of science and maths.

Teaching has been a passion of mine for a very long time as I had the privilege of having enthusiastic and truly knowledgable teachers during my schooling. So naturally I want to extend this to the next generation of learners to help open doors for them.

If you choose to have lessons with me I can guarantee you will work hard, develop a strong understanding, have laughs and lastly and most importantly, hopefully I will increase your curiosity with the STEM subjects.

My lessons will always start with diagnostic questions designed to identify any particular gaps in knowledge and skill sets. This will then help inform what points will be stressed for the remainder of that lesson and the coming weeks.

I am extremely passionate about both science and maths and I will endeavour to pass this enthusiasm I have onto my students. If students enjoy learning science, even if they do not intend to take it any further then I have achieved one of my main goals of being a teacher. This passion will be passed on through demonstrations, practicals, games and every so often songs and chants.

Whether the lesson is online or face-to-face, I feel it is vital that a student takes ownership of their learning and so there will be constant questioning and tasks to help build and reinforce understanding. Alongside this every resource I use will have visuals and animations to help the students have another avenue to comprehend topics that can seem abstract at first, rather than just reading text on a screen and listening to me talk.

Lastly, I will always tie the learning from this lesson into exam questions so the student can become more familiar with how exam questions are structured and to help them with their exam technique.
