About Rowan

I am a singing tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice in vocal performance. My approach to teaching is holistic, combining technical guidance with practices that nurture the body and mind. I believe that singing begins with alignment, so I incorporate physical awareness into lessons to ensure the body supports the voice with ease. Breath is central to my methodology, and I guide students in cultivating mindful breathing habits that allow the voice to flow naturally. I often use yoga-inspired warmups, gentle stretches, and body mapping to release tension and bring a deeper sense of connection to the instrument. These practices help singers find balance, energy, and freedom in their sound. I work with students on vocal expression, encouraging them to explore a range of styles while remaining authentic to their voice. My own passion extends to genres like World Music, Chanting, Folk Fusion, and Healing Sound, which inspire me to embrace the voice as a tool for connection and transformation. Lessons are designed to help each singer grow technically while also deepening their expressive potential. Through mindful exercises, tension release, and creative exploration, I help singers find both confidence and joy in their practice. For me, teaching is about guiding students to discover their voice not just as a musical skill, but as a pathway to well-being and creative freedom.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered on helping each singer discover their unique voice while building the technical foundation needed to sing with freedom and ease. I focus on guiding students through healthy breath support, resonance awareness, and pitch accuracy so they can grow steadily without strain. Lessons are tailored to individual goals, whether that’s learning to sing confidently for the first time or refining vocal skills for ensemble and performance settings.

I emphasize audition preparation, offering practical strategies for managing nerves, presenting confidently, and leaving a lasting impression. Together, we work on song interpretation so students can move beyond the notes and truly connect with the story and emotion. Personal expression is at the heart of my approach, and I encourage singers to develop authenticity in their sound and style.

For those who are new to singing, I provide patient guidance and supportive exercises that make the learning process enjoyable and rewarding. For those who sing in choirs or ensembles, I help strengthen blending, harmony awareness, and stage presence. I also offer tools for building confidence under pressure so that singers feel steady and assured in both practice and performance.

Every lesson is an encouraging space to experiment, grow, and discover new strengths. I combine clear technical instruction with creative exploration, ensuring progress feels both structured and inspiring. My goal is to help each singer feel at home in their voice and proud of their growth, no matter their starting point.
