About Zachary
I graduated from Regis High School in Manhattan, New York, and relied on tutors myself, so I am well-versed in the most rigorous academic settings and expectations placed on students. I earned a degree from Georgetown University as a first-generation college student, so I am familiar with the wide range of struggles both in and outside of the classroom that impact student learning. I earned a Master's Degree in Bilingual Education in 2022, while working as a curriculum developer and classroom teacher through the pandemic. I have become an expert in designing personalized, flexible, and interactive lessons for the student of today.

For 15 years, I have offered personalized lessons to a diverse range of students in middle and high school, and designed curriculum that responds to unique learning styles and schedules. In my years as a licensed classroom teacher before and after the pandemic, I have specialized in empowering students and families virtually, designing interactive lessons that promote mastery of content, collaboration, digital literacy and communication skills, and executive functioning.
I'm a teacher because I love to learn - my approach as your teacher is to learn about you first - how you learn best, what motivates you, and your specific academic, personal, or professional goals.
My lessons begin with motivation, exploring a potential real-life benefit for mastering the material and identifying student needs, and then I focus on developing the skills students need to achieve goals, from exams to jobs.
Every student receives a lesson and unit checklist, which serves to organize their effort and maintain focus, and reflection tools. I model new skills myself first, then provide opportunities for students to practice and encounter challenges together with me, and then practice on their own to assure mastery.
