About John
I have been playing music for almost four decades, including composing for films, live improvisation and performing in bands and solo in front of thousands. Starting at 7 on guitar, I moved to keyboards at 10 and never looked back. I was lucky, having great teachers who fostered a very student focused experience. I, in turn, carry that on, teaching my own kids (10, 8 & 4) to explore the music they are drawn to and develop their ear and playing styles, rather than focus on grades. Not to say music theory isn't relevant or important, that will come in time, but it is much easier to grasp if you are enjoying what you are playing. If you want your child to love music and feel inspired, or an adult wanting to reconnect with your instrument and play the songs you want to play, get in touch. Online lessons are possible for those too far away.

Have you ever thought you never quite reached your potential on an instrument, or simply a beginner wanting to have fun and explore music. I teach a style of music appreciation that focuses on developing the ear and uses your favourite music to advance your musical prowess. This works for all ages, and is especially effective for young learners to let their love of music (and playing an instrument) flourish. Lessons are 45 minutes and are in Newington Green in North London. I can travel for an additional fee. I am 45 and have Grade 8 keyboard from the London College of Music and have been playing keys and some guitar for 38 years.
