About Delina
I am currently a student at the University of Oxford, which does sound kind of intimidating but I have struggled with topics before, as any student does. Never the less, I came out with top grades. Being a student gives me the advantages of having relatability with my clients as well as being able to understand their perspective. I will recognise what is and isn't being understood and adjust my teaching accordingly.
Overcoming academic challenges is one of the most rewarding feelings and I aim to help my students achieve that. I have always enjoyed teaching/tutoring whether it's helping my peers or teaching younger year groups. I think it is very important to have learning catered to your needs, which I will ensure is a priority if you decide I am the right fit for you!
Past Experience/Achievements:
I achieved 12 grade 9's at GCSE and A*A*A*A at A-levels Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Philosophy respectively.
I have tutored A level students in Maths and Physics at my old Sixth form. I completed weekly tutor sessions in GCSE maths for 2 years at my secondary school. At sixth form I hosted weekly revision sessions where I was tasked to help the students that were struggling in Maths, which I volunteered for the entire duration of my studies.

First Lesson:
For the first session I take the time to understand the strengths and weakness in the subject we are going to cover, and what topics the student has and has not seen before. A lot of schools teach things in different orders, so it's important these sessions work alongside the classroom to avoid confusing topics together or overloading my client.
Recurring Lessons:
After this I take 30mins-1h to plan a lesson according to these strengths as well as the specification. These lessons tend to work alongside school lessons whether that means going over homework questions, finding more challenging questions, or solidifying topics that may have been rushed in the classroom. If the student is willing I will also set them work on applying what we went over independently.
A typical lesson is 1h-1h 30mins but I am willing to accommodate to the tutee's needs.
I use an interactive whiteboard and have flexible timings.
Teaching methods:
My teaching techniques focus first on understanding and then practise so my client can reliably perform well in all assessments. Understanding is best found by catering to the client, looking for alternative explanations and models to find the one that clicks for them. Then I focus on the practise by implementing scientifically backed efficient study methods including application of active recall and interleaving with an emphasis on past paper questions
