About Harper
With more than 9 years of experience and a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy, I teach with a focus on building complete musicianship. My approach integrates music theory, aural skills, and sight reading into violin study. This helps students prepare for music theory exams and develop advanced harmony understanding. We explore scales, intervals, and chord progressions using hands-on bowing and fingering techniques. This approach makes theory practical and engaging. I work with dedicated exam students as well as those seeking personal growth. My lessons balance technical accuracy with musical expression. Ear training is always a part of the process, sharpening your listening skills. Sight reading improves your adaptability as a player. Every student receives personalized guidance to meet their goals. Together, we’ll develop your playing and theory skills so you become a confident and complete violinist.

For me, sight-reading is an essential skill for every violinist. My method covers reading ledger lines, decoding complex rhythms, and following multi-part scores. Lessons are structured for gradual but steady improvement. We train your eyes and fingers to work together instantly. I have great success with The Musical Theatre Enthusiast and The Worship Singer. They often require quick learning for rehearsals and performances. We work on real pieces as well as targeted exercises. I teach rhythm subdivision, note grouping, and scanning techniques. These make even difficult passages manageable. Over time, sight-reading becomes less of a challenge and more of a joy. You’ll gain the freedom to play new music without hesitation.
