About Christopher
My style starts with finding what you know and helping to build the connection to where you will best succeed. A lot of times, the understanding is present but there are rules for the usage that aren't made explicitly clear.
I have been tutoring in some form or fashion since 2014 when I developed a program that connected teenagers with local children/preteens for tutoring and mentorship. This lead to a job in university where I tutored secondary school students before then moving to early university students as I became an upper division student.
During Covid, I partnered with the university to build a site where students can submit "tickets" and be put in a que for help and students in the same course can be in the same zoom room.

My lessons revolve around finding first where you are confident in your understanding and building a path to where we can get you. Once we develop and understanding of what you know, we can work towards the learning goals and what that would entail. Concepts often have hidden rules or items that are not shown but when pointed out unravel the "mystery".
I like to work with 0.75 - 1.5 hr sessions. The first session typically has the first half being built around what you know and getting the "fundamentals" down. After that we will spend the time seeing what the new concept is and "knowing what you don't know". We will typically use examples from class and isolate these unknown areas and tackling them one at a time. Afterwards, we will work through problems together and work on building the familiarity. As we do each question, we will often stop to reflect on the work and how each step in the process links together.
