About Jason
To be honest, I intially began giving formal tutoring lessons during my second year at Elon University purely as a means of making money at first, however I began to enjoy it more as time passed by. I've been tutoring since then except this last spring semester.
I wouldn't be able to provide you with an exact number of my tutors, especially because the sessions I manager weren't mandatory, however ~80 students I have tutored in a formal setting.
Something I've noticed is that I simply never have any classes with the students I tutor, most likely because they are a grade below me after I've taken the class, however one situation comes to mind. During the end of University Physics I, we were beginning out last unit on statistical mechanics, Boltzmaan Law, and concepts such as tge Ideal Gas Law at the time. Luckily it's one of my favorite subjects, however most of the class was struggling (Probably were ready for winter break to begin haha), so my friend/lab partner Roy came up with this this idea to meet at the Library every Tuesday and Thursday in the afternoon. After we finished our lab experient, we told our lab class (not lecture) what we were doing and invited anyone who was willing to join us. I suspect word must have gone out because when Tuesday came around about 40+ people came the first day. I was initially quite shocked because I figured it would be Roy, myself, and a couple other fellows. That being said Roy and I became the de facto "leaders" for our study sessions, not to say that we were the geniuses of the class, in fact the study sessions we had were very Laissez-faire in style in that the collaboration of all of us together was truly the tutor in that situation, Although it was not a formal tutoring position/situation nor was I paid, a lot of individuals appreciated the study group we made. One of the students Marshall who was a year above was also apart of our study group and has graduated to work as a software engineer at Fidelity Bank.

My name is Jason Lind, I'm currently a student of Elon University graduating this upcoming May. I'm studying to earn a B.S in Biochemistry and B.A in Physics with a minor in Neuroscience. I've formally tutored students mostly in Calculus, General/Organic Chemistry, Algebra, Neuroscience and kind of for Anatomy; however this is on a paid basis and doesn't include the ask for help from a fellow classmate, as we all do once in a while, or the unintentional . My plan of strategy in teaching is to find the loopholes in understanding and cater my lesson plan throughout. I also find it incredibly important to recognize when the student begins to understand and improve.
My approach in lesson structure is in finding the gaps of knowledge on the subject that a student answer incorrect to first help identify their weakness to work on. My goal is for my students not to memorize equations or numbers, but to grow intuition and think as a Chemist/Businessman/ect., in order to prepare them for the future. Also, by seeing shortfalls in certain subjects, it allows me to better personalize the tutoring session, as sometimes it can be the tiniest concept to open someone's eyes.
Truly, I believe that anyone has the ability to understand even the most complex concepts with time and effort. I believe everyone has this ability.
