About Geoffrey
I am a retired educator who worked for more than 20 years in higher education and with K-12 students in various capacities throughout my career. As a university administrator, I developed tutoring programs in mathematics and writing, developed foundational programs for students who were behind in their knowledge, and created supports for students completing their mathematics and writing requirements for their degrees. I also taught university courses as a professor and collaborated with other faculty to create programs to help students leverage their knowledge to get into the careers they desire. In addition to this, I have worked with students from a wide range of student populations including former foster youth, veterans, low income and first-generation college students, students with disabilities, student athletes, and students from migrant farm working families. Finally, I have worked with high schools through programs I developed at the university to help high school students attain the knowledge level they need to be admitted and succeed in their academics at the university.

The approach I take in my lessons is one I designed personally called the "Knowledge to Power" learning model. Through this approach, the aim is to not simply pass classes but to truly learn the material to the extent that students are able to use the knowledge gained. In preparing for college, students will learn to determine how to leverage knowledge and experience to not only get into college, but to approach college admission with purpose. Through this model, college preparation has students look beyond their college career as they enter it; even if they do not know what careers they want to go into at the moment. As for writing, students will learn the power of their voice through writing and myriad ways to use it to make the impact they want to make in the world. My approach is all about self-empowerment and advancement through education.
