About Mariano

At the age of 15 I developed the learning system I currently use and implemented it myself, improving my level of English significantly in only two months and reaching a point where studying was no longer necessary, as I would improve by simple practice. Ever since that day I have only improved by practicing the language.

I have trained 4 people from my personal environment since then using the same methodology, the result is a level B2 of English, a person without a professional title in English applying it in his career with good results, a degree thesis developed entirely in english, passed at first try and a job in which English is used on a recurring basis.

My name is Mariano, I am a student of economics, attending 100% of my degree in English. I have in effect the English Title of C2 of the Institute of Cambridge According to the European CEFR. I have decided to teach English because teaching is an area I have always been interested in, and I believe that my way of teaching languages can actually help a person develop the skills required. I am certain that the student can improve a lot in a short time, plus, I believe that being able to speak in various languages is a skill that deserves to be shared.

----------------- About me and my teaching objective ------------------

I developed my level of English before entering my degree, in a semi-autonomous way by means of a system based on the understanding of the language and the practice, rather than the theoretical approach we are typically taught at school. I have not attended any language exchange nor assisted to extra-school activities. I have implemented this same system several times over the years with people from my circle of friends and have proven its effectiveness.
My goal is for the pupil to step up in his English learning curve and stop presenting it as a theoretical challenge and start developing the ability to think, express and live in English, turning it into a second nature that improves with practice. The student will reach a level never to study again, and being able to improve and learn through practice, as it happened to me personally.

-------------- Summarized methodology -------------------

My classes will be divided in 4 fundamental steps:

1. Knowledge of the student and Of your current situation: the first session we will dedicate to the student showing me their current situation with English, find what he considers to be his weakest points and where he can improve.

2. We will review the theoretical aspect of these weak points, without special emphasis or need of memorization or study, only seeking their understanding, so as to use it as a support later.

3. Real practice in conversation and writing of the whole language, including the weak points and more advanced situations, once the simplest challenges are overcome.

4. Review of specific situations where knowledge of the grammar of the language can provide extra skill to the practical conversation. I look forward to continuing to refine my method of learning English and to help you stop suffering it or needing endless hours of dedication to learn the language of Shakespeare.

--------- Personal note ----------

I sincerely believe that of the multiple skills that I have developed over the years (I am a programmer and computer technician, graphic designer, I study a career ) English is undoubtedly the most useful and versatile of all. It has allowed me to travel, study in another language and meet people from other countries, find very interesting materials on the Web that are not available in Castellano, do business and work with people from all over the world: India, Thailand, USA, Scotland, England , Croatia ... and has opened the doors to various job opportunities that I have not been able to accept due to personal circumstances (the last full-time economic analyst in Genova, Italy, whom I did not accept by own decision when having another project Budding in Spain and because I had not completed my career). I consider it to be something indispensable for me, and I believe that everyone should be able to make the leap. When I see other people suffering with English because they are not able to understand it, it seems to me that they simply have not found a way to internalize it, so did I, since until I was 15 I was unable to learn English; Since then and with the learning system that I use, I have never had problems or need to study, I have improved over the years and changed my life completely, along with more people I have helped. Although there are more subjects that I consider qualified to teach, I have decided to do it exclusively in English, because it is where I consider that I can be more of help and that more can improve the student.   • ¿Dominas este idioma porque es tu lengua materna o porque un-a profe te ha dado ganas de aprenderlo?

    Tuve dificultades para aprender el idioma durante años, en un momento determinado durante un verano, las piezas del puzzle comenzaron a encajar y empecé a tener más soltura. Una gran profesora, hoy amiga; pareció darse cuenta de que yo iba un poco “por libre” y comenzó a darme libertad casi completa para estudiar o hacer ejercicios, aplicando la máxima de que daba igual como aprendiera, mientras aprendiera. Al aprender el idioma de manera relajada y sin presiones llegó a gustarme y hasta hoy no he dejado de usarlo en mi vida diaria.
  • Nombra un personaje histórico o ficticio que es, según tú, la fiel representación de la cultura que enseñas.

    Sinceramente no tengo la más mínima idea de qué contestar aquí jajajaja. Si tengo que pensar rápidamente en “persona inglesa” Quizá mi cabeza se vaya a Alfred, el mayordomo de Batman. ¿Que por qué? Probablemente por la imagen recta y estirada de él que siempre nos dibujan, muy estereotípica inglesa (Y en realidad diría que poco fiel a la realidad).
  • ¿Tiene este personaje una expresión, una frase, o un comportamiento que te divierte particularmente?

    Diría que no.
  • ¿Por qué consideras que hablar este idioma puede ser importante (tanto desde el punto de vista escolar, como profesional o personal)?

    Considero que el mundo se dirige cada vez con más velocidad hacia uno globalizado y sin barreras, con el inglés como lengua común. Internet nos ha proporcionado la mayor accesibilidad de la historia para comunicarnos con personas de todo el mundo y acceder a todos los recursos del planeta. Cualquier cosa que quieras aprender, siempre hay más recursos (libros, artículos, cursos) en inglés que en cualquier otro idioma, empresas de todo el mundo ofrecen puestos de trabajo exclusivamente en inglés en países cuya lengua materna no es el inglés y viajes donde viajes puedes comunicarte en inglés. De todo lo que tengo y sé, es la habilidad que me resulta más preciada, porque es la que más utilidad me ha dado.
  • ¿Cuál es la principal dificultad de esta lengua y qué aspecto podría ayudar a aprenderla con más facilidad?

    Creo que el gran contenido gramatical en el que normalmente nos vemos inmersos durante el aprendizaje es el mayor obstáculo, abstraer toda esa información y ponerla en un contexto real es lo que no siempre se consigue y realmente marca la diferencia.
  • Cuéntanos una anécdota de tu experiencia como profe o como alumno.

    Como alumno probablemente las dificultades con las que comencé a aprender el idioma. Al comienzo no lo entendía y no parecía ser capaz de aprenderlo. Haber dominado algo que me costó tanto en un comienzo siempre es una satisfacción. Como profesor me quedo con esos alumnos que te hacen reír por la originalidad de sus respuestas.
  • Ayúdanos a conocerte mejor, cuéntanos alguno de los viajes que has hecho.

    El interrail que hice por toda Europa, 10 países en 27 días; la experiencia definitiva que me hizo darme cuenta de lo preciado que es el inglés. Ir, de casualidad, a un país que nunca habrías pensado como destino y enamorarte hablando de su gente me pasó en Croacia, sitio al que no creo que deje de regresar nunca, conocer personas de todas las culturas en un tren o discutir con un dependiente malhumorado en Praga son anécdotas de un gran viaje jajaja.
  • ¿Qué te hace ser un Superprof (aparte de dominar a la perfección tantos idiomas?

    Mi experiencia me ha llevado a valorar el trato personal que siempre empleo con mis alumnos, la capacidad de hablarles no como profesor sino como amigo les ayuda a relajarse y darse cuenta de todo lo que saben, que solo necesitan dejarse llevar en muchas ocasiones.

    Diría que esa es probablemente la mayor cualidad que tengo como profesor, la de desarrollar una relación personal.
